The founders of the Primate’s Institute of Spiritual Life in their literary texts focus mainly on the concept of holiness of a Christian. They teach that the notion of the holiness in the Catholic Church is inseparable with the notion of the Triune God. The holiness of God is the source, the model and the aim for a man. The holiness of a Christian can be understood as: fulfilment of God's will and following Christ; divinization of the human nature and then living according to it; heroic practice of virtues, which are closely bound to the love of God; meeting moral standards and abiding natural law; abundance of Christian life; living in God's grace; righteous use of worldly possessions i.e. in accordance with their true aim; following God’s commandments and living according to the evangelical counsels; participating in the consecration of the world. Love is the core of each depiction of the Christian holiness; it pervades all human deeds. Such love has two basic dimensions: the love of God and the love of neighbours. The growth in holiness is achieved by the growth in generous love, which allows a man to be more open to the Holy Spirit. A Christian granted by gifts of the Holy Spirit grows more receptive to the enlightenment and inspiration prompted by God. In time, the activity of the Holy Spirit prevails over human efforts that are within a man himself.

Ks. Antoni Słomkowski jako twórca szkoły duchowości w Warszawie

Rev. Antoni Słomkowski was one of the most prominent Polish spiritual theologians of the 20th century. He contributed to the spiritual abundance of the Polish Church, especially in the region of Warsaw, by initiating an innovative school of spirituality. This was strongly influenced by the foundation of the Primates Institute of Spiritual Life and Instytut Chrystusa Króla i Maryi Matki i Królowej (the Institute of Christ the King and the Virgin Mary, the Mother and Queen) as well as establishing retreat centres in Kanie Helenowskie. His philosophy was also reinforced thanks to a close cooperation with the Pallottines. Not only was Rev. Słomkowski a man of deep faith and prayer but he was also an eminent theologian and organizer. His theological activity was mainly devoted to the concept of holiness of a Christian. The reasons for such a direction in his scientific work are as follows: a conscious growth of personal spirituality in life, a need for developing spiritual theology and a lively interest in contemporary theological events in Poland and abroad. Rev. Słomkowski as an initiator of the Warsaw school of spirituality confirmed the rightness of his views with his own life by serving God, the Church and all people he met on his way.
