Widać więc, że ich działalność polityczna była o wiele bardziej rozwinięta niż ich wiara w zbawczą rolę dynastii herodiańskiej. Jako stronnictwo byli oni wierni dynastii reprezentowanej przez Heroda Wielkiego, dzięki któremu awansowali w hierarchii społecznej. W poglądach religijnych byli zbliżeni do faryzeuszy, przez co wspólnymi siłami próbowali zwalczyć groźnego w ich przekonaniu przeciwnika, jakim był Jezus Chrystus.
