Źródło sukcesu czy niepowodzenia? O genologicznej heterogeniczności pisarstwa Pawła Huellego

Abstract

Paweł Huelle jest jednym z ważniejszych pisarzy debiutujących w okolicach przełomu roku 1989. Jego twórczość jest związana przede wszystkim z Gdańskiem. Jego pisarstwa nie należy jednak postrzegać tylko w kontekście „małych ojczyzn”. Owszem, Huelle przyczynił się do powstania współczesnego mitu Gdańska jako miasta palimpsestu. Jego twórczość jest też świetnym zapisem przemian społeczno- kulturowych w Polsce ostatnich lat. Pisarstwo Huellego stanowi także interesujący przykład zmian zachodzących w obrębie ewolucji gatunków literackich. Pisarz, starając się zachować granice bardzo tradycyjnych gatunków, nie unika zaangażowania swej twórczości w bieżący dyskurs społeczny, ocierając się czasami o publicystykę. Poszukuje wciąż nowych form wyrazu, nawiązuje intertekstualny dialog z wielką europejską literaturą, a dominującą cechą jego twórczości staje się publicystyczne zaangażowanie. W mojej ocenie twórczość literacka Pawła Huellego jest przykładem tego, że współcześnie nie da się oddzielić literatury od innych dyskursów kulturowych. Otwartym pozostaje pytanie, czy wielość gatunków uprawianych przez Huellego to źródło jego pisarskiego sukcesu.

Paweł Huelle is one of the most important writers who debuted in 1989 on the verge of transformation changes. His writings are connected with Gdańsk. However, they should not be perceived only as “the small motherland” writings. Huelle created the myth of the contemporary Gdańsk as palimpsest. His writings constitute the greatest record of the latest cultural and social transitions in Poland. Huelle’s works constitute an interesting example of the transition within the literary genres evolution. Trying not to cross the borders of the traditional genres, the writer does not avoid using the social discourse, and sometimes combines it with the journalism. He is constantly searching for the new word forms, establishing an intertextual dialogue with the greatest European literature. His journalistic engagement constitutes the main feature of his writings. To my mind, Paweł Huelle’s literary works proves that the literature cannot be separated from other cultural discourse. However, the problem of perceiving the variety of literary genres used by Huelle as a source of his success remains an open question.
