Abstract

Jednym z najważniejszych wydarzeń Roku Jubileuszowego 2000 była liturgia pokutna, podczas której św. Jan Paweł II prosił w imieniu Kościoła o przebaczenie Jego grzechów. Każdy grzech zadaje ranę, przebaczenie i pojednanie jest jedynym sposobem naprawy i uzdrowienia zarówno w wymiarze indywidualnym jak i wspólnotowym. Pierwszym krokiem w tym procesie jest uznanie własnego grzechu. Przyznanie się i prośba o przebaczenie uwalnia jednostkę i całą wspólnotę oraz otwiera przestrzeń budowania nowej przyszłości. Kościół jako wspólnota ludzi słabych i grzesznych stosuje akt skruchy, uznając siebie za winną popełnionych przewin, w tym celu, aby rozpocząć proces uleczenie zranień, wywołanych grzechami swych synów i córek.

One of the most important events of the 2000 Jubilee Year was the penitential liturgy during which St John Paul II prayed for the forgiveness of sins on behalf of the Church. Every sin inflicts wounds; forgiveness and reconciliation is the only way to repair and heal, both individually and in the community. The first step in this process is to recognize one’s own sin. Admission and the request for forgiveness release the individual and the whole community and open the space for building a new future. The Church, as a community of weak and sinful people, uses the act of repentance, recognizing itself as guilty of the offences committed, in order to begin the process of healing the wounds caused by the sins of its sons and daughters.
