Abstract

Although there are some guidelines as to the suggested interpretation of theory of evolution in Catholic circles, one may find many examples of misunderstanding of the whole subject among Catholics. The main obstacle arises from the alleged conflict between traditional notion of the original sin and the whole concept of evolution. In the article we give an idea of how to reconcile the theological idea of biological death as a consequence of the original sin and the scientific understanding of death as a natural necessity in the process of evolution.
