The history of St. Michael’s and The Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary parish church are strictly connected with the events which were taking part in the town during seven centuries. A gradual development of importance the collegiate church was nobilitated by the visits of the highest dignitaries both secular and ecclesiastical ones. The temple has become the mother of churches in the land of Wieluń. Firmly integrated with both urban and landed organs, financially supported by numerous donators, collegiate church was believed to be well-equipped and wealthy. The archbishop of Gniezno, Jan Łaski confirmed it and rated the collegiate church as assimilated to the richest ones in the Kingdom. Some interesting epitaphs from the 16th – 20th century and renaissance nobility gravestones destroyed by Luftwaffe attack are noteworthy.
