Chrześcijaństwo i islam wobec rozumu

Abstract

Chrześcijaństwo od początku swojego istnienia pozytywnie odnosiło się do rozumu, a podejście takie miało swoje źródło w koncepcji o racjonalności Boga. Zgodnie z poglądem chrześcijańskim Bóg wpisał we wszechświat prawa, które człowiek ‒ dzięki swojej zdolności do myślenia - może odkrywać i w ten sposób przyczyniać się do rozwoju i postępu, przekształcając ten świat w granicach praw nadanych mu przez Stwórcę. Odróżnienie Boga od stworzenia, uznanie, że świat jest owocem myśli Boga, afirmacja rozumności człowieka są dowodem pozytywnego stosunku chrześcijaństwa do rozumu. Islam, choć w przeszłości miał okres, w którym filozofia prężnie się rozwijała, a filozofowie mogli swobodnie tworzyć swoje koncepcje, to współcześnie rozumowa analiza prawd objawionych, w tym także egzegeza historyczno-krytyczna Koranu, są na cenzurowanym. W ostatnich dekadach w islamie rozwinęły się nurty fundamentalistyczne, które nie pozwalają na zadawanie pytań o treść poszczególnych prawd wiary. Te nurty skutecznie utrudniają racjonalną rozmowę o Bogu. Islamska koncepcja Boga, którego główną zasadą działania jest wola, a nie rozum, z pewnością utrwala postawy fundamentalistyczne wśród muzułmańskich uczonych i teologów.

Christianity since the beginning of its existence had a positive [affirmative] approach to the mind and it was caused by the concept of the rationality of God. According to a Christian view, God created the universe together with its law [rules, for example: the rules of nature, moral law, natural law], which man can discover and cause the development [evolution] in order to change the world accepting the law given by the Creator. The evidences of affirmative approach of Christianity to the mind are: distinguishing the Creator and the creation, approving the truth that the universe is an effect of God’s mind and truth about sapience of man. In Islam there was a period (from IX to XII century) when philosophy was growing up, but nowadays the rational analysis of Islamic doctrine is suspicious [suspect]. In the last decades in | Islam started to exist concepts which are not allowed to ask about particular theological issues. These concepts effectively obstruct rational discussion regarding [of] God. According to the Islamic doctrine, the main rule of God acting is not mind but will. This is the theological reason to promote fundamentalist concepts, because if God does not have to observe rational rules ‒ He can do what he likes, it depends on His will ‒ as well people do not have to observe them. If the rules of mind are not observed, the main strategy of acting people is the will.
