Objawienie – wiarygodność – przekaz (koncepcja teologii fundamentalnej Geralda O’Collinsa)

Abstract

The author of this article analyses the concept of fundamental theology developed by Gerald O'Collins. The Australian theologian suggests to define fundamental theology as that discipline which in the light of faith reflects critically on the foundations of theology and basic theological issues. In his opinion there are three main themes that establish a specific identity for fundamental theology: 1 ) the self-revelation of the tripersonal God in Jesus Christ, 2) the credibility of that revelation and 3) its transmission and interpretation. G. O’Collins also examines the nature, functions, methods and scientific status of theology as such against a background of three styles of post-Vatican II Catholic theology: academic, practical and contemplative.
