Olimpizm – domniemanie uniwersalizmu kulturowego

Abstract

Artykuł podejmuje zagadnienie miejsca olimpizmu sportowego w kulturze wartości uniwersalnych. Analizie poddano dobro kulturowe olimpizmu w perspektywie idei uniwersalizmu, przy jednoczesnym wskazaniu, że mimo humanistycznych ideałów ruch olimpijski może utrwalać pewne ograniczenia i złudzenia dotyczące własnej misji. Podstawą rozważań jest metoda ocenno-normatywna, właściwa refleksji humanistycznej, pozwalająca ukazać sens uczestnictwa w igrzyskach olimpijskich jako wyrazu dążenia człowieka ku dobru. W toku analizy podkreślono, iż kultura olimpijska, choć narażona na przejawy zła moralnego, wnosi do wspólnej tradycji wartości zgodne z godnością osoby ludzkiej. Zasadniczy wniosek wskazuje, że o uniwersalnym wymiarze olimpizmu przesądza idea pokoju olimpijskiego: igrzyska, poprzez swoją symbolikę i wspólnotę sportową, stają się przestrzenią pojednania, przyjaźni i zaufania ponad granicami kulturowymi.Abstract The article explores the place of Olympic sports within the culture of universal values. The cultural good of Olympism is analysed in the context of universalism, while noting that, despite its humanistic ideals, it may at times reinforce certain limitations and illusions concerning its mission. The study employs an evaluative-normative method, characteristic of humanistic reflection, which allows participation in the Olympic movement to be interpreted as an expression of the human pursuit of the good. It is demonstrated that Olympic culture – despite being exposed to manifestations of moral evil – contributes to universal culture by affirming values consistent with the dignity of the human person. The conclusion suggests that the concept of Olympic peace informs the universal dimension of Olympism: the Games, through their symbolism and the sporting community, become a space of reconciliation, friendship, and trust that transcends cultural boundaries.
