Troska o matkę i dziecko w pruskim dokumencie życia społecznego z końca XVIII w.

Abstract

Dzieciobójstwo było zawsze potępiane. W końcu XVIII w. włączył się do tego król pruski, który wydał kilka zarządzeń chroniących samotne matki i ich dzieci. Na terenach zaboru pruskiego wydawał je w języku niemieckim i polskim. Zachowało się tylko kilka egzemplarzy druku. Król poucza w nim społeczeństwo i administrację, jak ma się zachować wobec samotnych matek, aby nie dochodziło do dzieciobójstwa i ustala kary za przekroczenie zarządzenia.

Instances of infanticide have always been condemned. The Prussian king got involved in the issue at the end of the 18th c. by editing several regulations protecting single mothers and their infants. They were published in both German and Polish on the annexed territory during the period of Partition. A few copies have been retained. The king instructs the society and the administrative powers how to deal with single mothers in order to avoid infanticide; he also defines penalty for disobeying the law. The above mentioned document has been kept in the State Archives in Gdansk.
