Abstract

This article analyzes the phenomenon of atheism and religious indifference. It draws on the literature of Fyodor Dostoyevsky, the philosophical reflections of Henri de Lubac, and the Christian anthropology of Karol Wojtyła / John Paul II. Atheism and religious indifference lead to a crisis of the individual, society, and culture. According to Dostoyevsky, the rejection of faith in God results in psychological, social, and existential decay. De Lubac emphasizes that atheistic humanism leads to nihilism and totalitarianism. Wojtyła argues that only in Christ does man discover his dignity. In short, individual atheism disintegrates the psyche, social atheism disintegrates society, and philosophical atheism disintegrates the meaning of existence. The ideas of atheism and indifference promise freedom, but in reality, bring enslavement. From this perspective, Christianity appears as the only path to authentic humanism, capable of protecting man from nihilism, despair and self-destruction.
