Abstrakt
The thirteen Letters of St. Paul constitute an extremely rich source of the Church’s theology. The reading of these Letters enables us to learn about the way of life of the early Christian communities and equally about the way Paul responded to any emerging errors. Publishers of the New Testament ascribe apposite headings, so-called theological titles, to each of the Letter’s chapters. These number about two hundred. The classification of these headings, when considered in relation to the work in its entirety, gives us a concept of the fundamental principles and direction of Paul’s theology. It appears that the main theme is that of Christology - the mystery of Jesus Christ as the first-born of all creation. Another theme is that of justification and its eternal consequences for mankind. From the latter there emerge subsequent themes of ecclesiology and anthropology, and finally, the subject of Paul himself, his life and his apostolic mission.
