Akademickie sympozja ekumeniczne w Cieszynie

Abstract

It has been observed for a number of centuries, that Christians of other religions have perceived the Catholic Church as the closed fortress defending its state and property. However, there are the ecumenical academic symposiums, and first of all those held from 1996 till 2005 at a branch of the Silesian University in Cieszyn, as well as many other facts that contradict this statement. The praying, theological and ecumenical discussions are in progress at the Silesian University in Cieszyn during many academic meetings, conferences and symposiums. The symposiums in Cieszyn are of the significant importance and value for the whole ecumenical dialogue as they entail research and educational aspects, which aim to stimulate and develop among Christians both respect and positive attitude towards other communities. Thus, a Christian should try to get to know those who believe differently as it enables him to enrich comprehension of the Bible.
