Przymierze sportu i sumienia. Etyczne inspiracje antropologii olimpijskiej P. de Coubertina

Abstract

Pierre de Coubertin kilkukrotnie w swoich pismach odwoływał się do fenomenu sumienia. Co ważne, traktował je w kategoriach ponadwyznaniowych, jako ogólnoludzką zdolność osądu pozwalającego mierzyć postęp moralny, analogicznie do postępu wyników sportowca. W Pedagogice sportowej wyraził inspirujące przekonanie, że sport stanowi wyjątkowy „ogród doświadczalny” sprzyjający formacji sumienia. Opinia ta zachęciła autora artykułu, do pracy badawczej nad dorobkiem myśli francuskiego pedagoga, stawiając następujące pytanie: jak rozumie on istotę i misję sumienia? Podjęte analizy doprowadziły do wniosków, które mogą stanowić pomocne wskazania dla edukacji szkolnej i akademickiej prowadzonej w duchu wartości olimpizmu.Pierre de Coubertin referred to the phenomenon of conscience several times in his writings. Importantly, he treated it in non-confessional terms, as a universal human ability to judge moral progress, analogously to the progress of an athlete’s performance. In Pédagogie sportive, he expressed the inspiring belief that sport is a unique place – an „experimental garden” propitious to the formation of conscience. This opinion encouraged the author of this article to conduct research on the achievements of the French educator’s thought, asking the following question: how does he understand the essence and mission of conscience? The analyzes undertaken led to conclusions that may constitute recommendations for school and academic education conducted in the spirit of the values of Olympism.
