Finite philosophy presents God as a finite existence. In accordance with Jean Maria Maritain, humanistic dialectic is the source of the concept of a finite God in contemporary philosophy and theology (theological finitism). The concept of finite Gods existence has been developed both by going down in theological sense with depriving God his transcendency (naturalism) or by going up in the same sense with reducing the dependency of creatures on God (humanism). Karol Ludwik Koniński considered the assumptions of the theological finitism. Theological philosophy being developed by Koniński originates in a conflict between epistemological idealism and realism, ontological monism and pluralism, pantheism and theism, immanence and transcendentic immanence of God, and finally, in a conflict between antropocentric and theocentric humanism. In this way, Koniński arrived at the idea of working God, which reflected Koniński’s tending to an own world outlook against to finite tendencies in contemporary philosophy. There exists also a theological contribution for theological finitism in the form of suaresjans’ statically seeing the Being of God. The idea of working God is an approach to transcendentic immanence of God referring to the dynamic description of the Cause of universally becoming and to the evolutionist creationism, the dynamic description being followed after Bergson. Formulating the concept of working God, Koniński overcame theological finitism in Polish philosophy of the twentieth century. In this way, he restored the St Thomas’ theology which had been forgot in the period of decadence scholastics.
