Scena „Quo vadis” w dekoracji sarkofagów z IV wieku?

Abstract

The article reminds an old interpretation of J. Wittig of the scene with Christ, apostle Peter and a cock that forms a part of the iconographic cycle of St. Peter in the relieves of the Roman Christian sarcophagi of the IV century. According to this interpretation this scene would represent the famous apocryphal episode of “Quo vadis Domine”? The author supports such interpretation as a very possible, any way in the first half of the IV century, that besides does not exclude also any other traditional and well known interpretation of that scene.
