Kościół i sport w nauczaniu papieża Franciszka

Abstract

Celem artykułu jest ukazanie nauczania papieża Franciszka na temat sportu i potrzeby aktywnej obecności Kościoła na jego gruncie. Inspiracją do podjęcia problematyki był papieski dokument zatytułowany Giving the best of yourself. A Document on the Christian perspective on sport and the human person, ale także inne wypowiedzi i stanowiska Franciszka na temat odpowiedzialności Kościoła za sport. Artykuł ma charakter przeglądowo- teoretyczny, w którym położony jest nacisk na refleksję i wydobycie istoty nauczania papieża na temat sportu przez wykorzystanie danych zastanych. Z przeprowadzonych analiz wynika, że Kościół chce ponosić odpowiedzialność za sport, który jest fenomenem globalnym, mającym liczne walory, mogące być wykorzystane do pełnego i harmonijnego rozwoju jego uczestników w wymiarze sprawnościowo-zdrowotnym, społeczno-kulturowym oraz etyczno-duchowym. Dobrze zorganizowany sport może być drogą realizacji najwyższych wartości humanistycznych i personalistycznych, ale także osiągnięcia świętości. Kościół przez swoich duszpasterzy i swoje instytucje uczestniczy we wszystkich jego wymiarach i na wszystkich etapach rozwoju, zarówno w budowaniu zaplecza teoretycznego, uzasadnienia jego sensu z filozoficznej i teologicznej perspektywy, jak i w praktyce społecznej. Wizja sportu papieża Franciszka, mocno osadzona na nauczaniu jego poprzednika, Jana Pawła II, może stanowić ważną płaszczyznę autentycznego, ekumenicznego dialogu z innymi, niekatolickimi wyznaniami.

The aim of the article is to show the teaching of Pope Francis on sport and the need for the active presence of the Church in its area. The inspiration to take up the issue was the papal document entitled Giving the best of yourself. A Document on the Christian perspective on sport and the human person, but also other statements and positions of Francis on the Church’s responsibility for sport. The work is of a theoretical and review character, in which emphasis is placed on reflection and extraction of the essence of the Pope’s teaching on sport by using existing data. The analyzes carried out show that the Church wants to be responsible for sport, which is a global phenomenon with numerous values that can be used for the full and harmonious development of its participants in terms of fitness and health, socio-cultural and ethical and spiritual. Well-organized sport can be a way to realize the highest humanistic and personalistic values, but also to achieve holiness. The Church, through its pastors and its institutions, participates in all its dimensions and at all stages of development, both in building a theoretical background, justifying its meaning from a philosophical and theological perspective, and in social practice. Pope Francis vision of sport, firmly based on the teachings of his predecessor John Paul II, can constitute an important platform for authentic, ecumenical dialogue with other, non-Catholic denominations.
