Participatio actuosa fidelium we Mszy św. od Piusa X do Konstytucji Sacrosanctum Concilium

Abstract

Już w XIX w. ruch liturgiczny najpierw na Zachodzie (Francja, Belgia, Niemcy), a następnie w innych krajach miał wielki wpływ na bardziej świadome i czynne uczestnictwo wiernych w liturgii Mszy św. Dużą rolę w tym procesie włączania wiernych w liturgię Mszy św. pełniły mszaliki zawierające tłumaczenie tekstów Ordo Missae. Następnie papieże – Pius X, Pius XI, a zwłaszcza Pius XII – w wydawanych dokumentach kierowanych do całego Kościoła podawali teologiczne uzasadnienie czynnego uczestnictwa w liturgii Mszy (kapłaństwo chrzcielne). Powinno to być najpierw uczestnictwo wewnętrzne (ofiarowanie siebie przez ręce kapłana), a następnie uczestnictwo zewnętrzne, głównie przez śpiew gregoriański, gesty i postawy ciała. Różne stopnie participatio actuosa w różnych formach celebracji Mszy określiła Kongregacja Obrzędów w instrukcji De musica sacra et liturgia. Dopiero jednak soborowa Konstytucja Sacrosanctum Concilium stwierdziła, że sama natura liturgii wymaga actuosa participatio w niej wiernych i Kościół bardzo pragnie takiego „pełnego, świadomego i czynnego udziału wiernych w obrzędach liturgicznych” (KL 14). Autor na podstawie analizy dokumentów Kościoła od Piusa X do Piusa XII przedstawia rozwój rozumienia czynnego udziału wiernych w liturgii Mszy św. oraz jego różne formy (stopnie).

Already in the 19th century the liturgical movement, first in the West (France, Belgium, Germany) and later in other countries, had a great influence on the m ore conscious and active participation of the faithful in the liturgy of the Holy Mass. A significant role on this process played the small missals containing the translations of the Ordo Missae texts. Subsequently, the Popes Pius X, Pius XI, and later Pius XII, in the documents directed to the entire Church, provided theological justification of the active participation in the liturgy of the Eucharist (baptismal priesthood). Firstly it should be the interior participation (offering onself through the priest’s hands) and then the external participation, mainly through the Gregorian chant and gestures. Different degrees of the participatio actuosa in the various forms of the celebration of the Mass were defined by the Congregation of Rites in its instruction De musica sacra et liturgia. However, it was the Constitution Sacrosanctum Concilium of the Second Vatican Council which stated that the very nature of the liturgy requires the actuosa participatio of the faithful and the Church “ earnestly desires that all the faithful should be led to that full, conscious, and active participation in liturgical celebrations” (SC 14). The author presents the development of the understanding of the actuosa participatio in the litugy. The presentation is based on the analysis of the Church documents from Pius X to Pius XII.
