Abstract

Contemporary trends in German moral theology remain under the influence of both the signs of the time and the responses to them given on the basis of various disciplines of theology and of the science of man. Hence moral theology takes into consideration the results of biblical sciences and of dogmatics, but it also remains under the influence of philosophy, as metaphysical reflection on truth and natural law has effect on fundamental moral theology. Like all theology, moral theology also remains under the influence of the general-Church situation as well as of the spirit of the time. This is because theology is to respond to the challenges of the given time, and it should do it in the language that is understood at that time.
