    Although there are more and more binational families in Poland, this subject is hardly present in Polish press and in a very superficial way. The author focuses on Polish-Italian families which are shown in press by culinare topics (specially Tessa Capponi-Borowska – Italian who has lived in Poland for more than 20 years). Fortunately, at the background of the articles it is possible to find a few information about intercultural communication in these kind of families: ways of strategies of acculturation and ways of bringing up children. The author also hopes that this topic will be more and more popular in Polish media because binational families are one of the elements of new, intercultural reality of XXI century.

    Legalność uchwał organów stanowiących jednostek samorządu terytorialnego

    The aim of this article was not to analyse at length all the problems connected with the legality of the resolutions adopted by the decision making bodies of the territorial government units. This article brings up only some basic issues, such as: the law-making independence of a self-government and the constitutional law of legalism, the rules of law-making in the judicature of the Constitutional Tribunal, the content and form of the resolutions adopted by the decision making bodies of the territorial government units, the substantial premises for the conformity of a resolution adopted by a decision making body of a territorial government unit to the law, the results of the inconformity of the resolutions to the law. The dissertation presents the views of the doctrine of administrative, constitutional, and self-governmental law, as well as the judicature of the Constitutional Tribunal and the Supreme Administrative Court.

    100 lat historii parafii św. Wojciecha w Elblągu

    Several generations of inhabitants of Elbląg have been brought up in Parish of St. Wojciech. These inhabitants have been living in here within two different political and national structures. Inhabitants speaking German used to form that community for the first 40 years. However, since year 1945 this land has become "New Homeland" for settlers from different parts of pre-war Poland (II Rzeczpospolita). And after year 1989, with transformation by "Round Table", the image of our community changed a bit. Studying the history of this Parish we can see that during past 100 years our Church has integrated with the history of our Region very much. The first priesthood in Elbląg was dedicated to working class. And such peculiarity of this Parish is also established nowadays. Parish of St. Wojciech in Elbląg used to be the part of Diocese of Warmia till year 1992. In fact our Church has concentrated not only religious life but social one as well. This Parish has enabled favourable conditions for development of cultural life, sociable and even public one. But first and foremost the history presents forms of missions of priests and tries to tell us more about specific forms of bigotry in this Region.

    From the beginning the Catholic Church has condemned the act of the termination of pregnancy. Such an act is immoral and it is a sin joined with the punishment of excommunication. This punishment concerns the woman who tries to stop pregnancy and the people who persuade her to do that. In spite of many objections, the right of every innocent. human being to live was not respected. It was connected with the problem of the establishment when the embryo becomes a human being. The baby was treated as an object, as “something that makes life difficult”. Abortion has a long history and has been induced by various primitive and cruel methods. With the technological development various methods of abortion appeared. Nowadays they can be divided into two groups pharmacological and surgical. Abortion will never be accepted and treated as moral good even if it is done by innovational methods. None of the circumstances that forced the woman to the termination of pregnancy, will justify her behaviour. Such an interference into her body brings with itself both psychological and physical consequences that might be the source of evil. In order to avoid these alarming phenomenon we should take care of human life and do everything to make it intact. All these actions will help in creating the civilisation of love and life and not the civilisation of death.

    Bilans udziału wojsk polskich w Iraku na łamach „Rzeczpospolitej” w latach 2003-2008

    In this article I tried to present the position of "Rzeczpospolita" at results of participation in Iraq by polish army from 2003 to 2008. Despite small political, economical and military profits, Polish Republic prooved, that she was able to face the threat of Saddam Hussein regime, and is strong enough to perform the duties as a USA ally, even against the criticism of international opinion. Perhaps, if there was no military intervention in Iraq, the threatment of Hussein regime would be similar to Third Reich menace at the period before Second World War, when world passively looked at the growing power of Nazi Germany. Polish experience of Nazi occupation was one of the reasons why Poland supported USA policy in the campaign against Saddam Hussein dictatorship.

    The article brings the concept of such financial instrument as promissory note. The authors are describing the beginning and the evolution of this instrument. Authors emphasize its Italian and German history. The article also refers to a definition, legal basis and some distinguishing features of promissory note listed. The next part is according to a moment when the commitment of promissory appears and when ends. Authors are also describing the specificity of this commitment. Last part is devoted to enumerate some characteristic types of promissory notes like endorsement, blank promissory notes and aval.

    Przepowiadanie ks. Jana Twardowskiego i ks. Józefa Tischnera do dzieci – studium porównawcze w aspekcie komunikacyjnym

    As a basis of the work there are compositions for the children by Fr. Twardowski, collected in first three volumes of “Utwory zebrane” by Jan od Biedronki (especially “Patyki i patyczki” and “Zeszyt w kratke”), and in “Rozmowy z dziecmi”. “Kazania niecodzienne” by Fr. Tischner. Both authors addressed to the children their spoken word, as well as a written one. Twardowski preached to the children more often than Tischner, and applied more relieved delivery forms. Essentially, Tischner’s preaching had a form of homily or story, while Twardowski’s – of homily, story, minidrama, humoresque, riddle, and also of a poetic composition. Both preachers are aware of preaching to a specific listener, as a child is. They endeavor to make children interested in a given religious subject, as most frequently presented as a problem to be resolved in common. They employ analysis and synthesis usually within a short narration, which is more dialogized in Tischner’s than in Twardowski’s. On the other hand, Twardowski’s messages are formulated with bigger dose of humor than these of Tischner, and with smaller distance to an addressee. Both engage humor, joke, and ludic (amusement) elements. They try to reach not only a childish intellect, but even more a child’s imagination. Adequately to this purpose they find a language of preaching. It is communicative, concrete, conformable to perceptive possibilities of addressee, and not trespassing a linguistic picture of child’s world. In a syntactic layer, simple sentences and equivalent clauses prevail. In Tischner’s homilies there is more “on-goings” and spontaneity, activations of interpersonal relations. He also refers more frequently to memory and thinking. Both preachers try to wake the children to understand and feel the beauty, and to open them – as much as possible because of a danger of excessive abstraction – to the world of transcendent values. They apply a principle of demonstrativeness by pictures, signs, and symbols. The principle of demonstrativeness facilitates a communication with the children, as well as an understanding and assimilation of evangelical contents and values, and their inclusion to the child’s world. The preachers engage especially senses of hearing and sight of their listeners. They introduce an element of delicate provocation (especially Tischner) in order to arise interest in a childish addressee. Both deliver a positive picture of the world. In their preaching a horizontal dimension unites with a vertical one.

    One of the models of the widely known concessionary financing of the churches and the religious unions are pecuniary gains guaranteed by the home finances. The problem still arises and rouses a certain manner of doubt and discussion. The fundamental pecuniary gains and religious unions are among the others: tax exemptions, private donations and demises based on the corporate income tax act, the church fund and custom- house duty exemptions.
