Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego, 2012)In the present look of the Dominicans’ basilica located in ul. Złota in Lublin, the dominating elements are beautiful, Baroque chapels, an incredibly characteristic Renaissance gable distinguishing this building from among other constructions as well as a glistening and gold-reflecting classical altar. Many of us ask the question concerning the original look of this gothic temple after the tragic fire of May 1575. We know that after this event, the church construction was radically modified and those modifications were caused by the destructions brought about by the fire. The present text is just an attempt at reconstructing the architecture of the basilica in the light of the available archeological written or iconographie sources as well as at placing it in the circle of the 13th Dominican constructions in the Polish territories.Pozycja Austro-węgierski epizod Sióstr Maryi Niepokalanej (1914-1918)Stefaniak, Piotr (Uniwersytet Opolski. Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego, 2012)The new socio-political context of the conquered nations of the Middle and Near East caused an unexpected and profound changes on the map of the religions in the area. As soon as in a decade after the death of Muhammad (632AD) the rise of Islam and the spread of the Qur‘änic message became a fact in the Eastern frontiers of the Byzantine Empire. In consequence, Christian communities living in the territories controlled by the new political power, had to answer these challenges. First hundred years after the Muslim conquest of the Middle and Near East were characterized by a separated development of both religious communities. Therefore, by the end of the Umayyad Caliphate (749 AD) we do not find any Christian document written in Arabic. The turning point happened under the Abbasid rule (750-1258). The appearance of the oldest-known Christian text in Arabic (Fī tathlīth Allāh al-wāhid) dated to the 755-770 AD, was undoubtedly coincidental, but significant. However, we must keep in mind that the openness of the Abbasid rulers supported both the cultural and religious exchange. The encounter between the believers of these two religions forced them to explore their differences and to face new and unexpected challenges. The faith in the one God in the Trinity of Persons and the Incarnation confronted with the Islamic approach to monotheism is one of the challenges that the Christians of the Middle and Near East had to deal with. They had to meet this challenge for at least two reasons: (1) To preserve their own communities from conversion to Islam; and (2) To expose Christian doctrine and defend the faith against the accusations of polytheism. The defense of the faith was at the heart of Arab Christian apologetic literature, which usually dealt with the following topics: (1) God, the Holy Trinity; (2) Jesus Christ: Divine filiation, Incarnation, Redemption; and (3) The authenticity of Christianity.Pozycja Demokracja i jej wartości w encyklikach Jana Pawła IIWróbel, Adam (Uniwersytet Opolski. Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego, 2012)The main issue of the article concentrates on the idea of democracy, its moral, social, legal and political spectrum, included in encyclicals of John Paul II. The author, sharing John Paul’s II opinion, tries to: specify what the democracy and its fundamental human rights exactly are; define the values which are its foundation, and the anti values that constitute a threat to it; show the rights, duties and the role of an individual, society and the state in the democratic system. Analysis of the Pope’s teaching in this area, shows that true democracy — which ensures the common participation in political decisions and is a guaranty for citizens to control their democratic rules — should be connected with fixed and constant, thus invariable moral and human values, which belong to the human nature, come from the truth about human being, and protect dignity and fundamental rights of human beings. The Pope indicates unequivocally that democracy and peace, are the most wanted and precious values for the society, in centre of which lies the respect for human life.Pozycja Dyskusja J. Ratzingera – Benedykta XVI z eschatologiczną interpretacją Królestwa Bożego w aspekcie egzegetycznymKról, Przemysław (Uniwersytet Opolski. Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego, 2012)The eschatological interpretation of the God’s Kingdom claims, that Jesus proclaimed the end of the world which is close. J. Ratzinger-Benedict XVI make a exegetical reflection on this way of understanding the kingdom. Pope notices author’s eschatological mentality. They didn’t take into account history of interpretation the biblical text. Pope points out the necessary of using literary and theological principles of interpretation the Holy Bible. There is a need to take into consideration circumstances in which biblical text was produced, original language, parallel passages and the unity of the Old and New Testament. Reading the Bible in that way, by Benedict XVI indicates clearly at Jesus and His Church. The kingdom of God finally occurred on Earth in the person of Jesus — in His mission in The Holy Spirit against the kingdom of Satan. The kingdom of heaven is being present in the event of the cross, which from the point of view of resurrection, is the victory of love against evil. God’s reign exists also in the community of believers. It remains at the same time the kingdom, which is yet to come at the end of times in its fullness. Nevertheless this fullness is already anticipated.Pozycja Eufemia raciborska ‒ priorissaKublin, Grzegorz (Uniwersytet Opolski. Ujęcie teoretyczneZellma, Anna (Uniwersytet Opolski. Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego, 2012)Successive curricular reforms in general education have been implemented in Polish education since 2009/2010. In connection with it, the authors of catechetical curricular documents of Catholic Church in Poland planned new areas of correlation of religion teaching with school education. They also introduced new contents in correlation with subjects of general education such as civic studies. The aim of this article is to analyse correlation of catholic religion teaching with civic studies in post-secondary schools: in secondary school, technical college and vocational school on the basis of new curricular documents on religion teaching and general education. The issues included in binding documents: Catechesis curriculum and General education curriculum are consecutively disscussed. Being aware of the fact that new civic studies curriculum is just being created, the analysis of correlation of religion teaching with civic studies in post secondary schools is omitted. However, the range of correlation in catechesis and general education curriculum is mentioned. The evaluation of analysed aims, tasks and contents is also made. In the summary a few didactic and educational postulates, significant to catechetical practice, are introduced.Pozycja Liturgiczne i pozaliturgiczne przepowiadanie z obrazowością słowną i wizualnościąŁysy, Hubert (Uniwersytet Opolski. Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego, 2012)The paper consists of three parts. In the first one, the author presents — on the basis of available archival documents — the successive stages of submitting applications to the authorities of the People’s Republic of Poland (in the years 1980-1982), requesting permissions to build churches in the Diocese of Opole, the parish of Lord’s Transfiguration in Opole offering a case study. In the second part, the author describes the course of the construction of the church, and in the third one, explains — in the light of documents of the Second Vatican Council — the architectonic principles behind the sacral object under discussion, together with the group of parochial buildings. The Lord’s Transfiguration Church in Opole is a typical example of architectonic modernism of the 1980s.Pozycja Prawdziwy wizerunek SkargiOżóg, Kazimierz S. (Uniwersytet Opolski. Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego, 2012)The purpose of the article is to shed light on the problem that the scholars depicting the figure of Piotr Skarga has been dealing with for two centuries: the lack of a reliable image of this preacher. Although several paintings and graphic works come from the times around his life time, there is no certainty whether Skarga had posed for any of them. However, on the basis of the skull examination which was carried out in 1918, it is possible to specify a few characteristic features of his physiognomy which, interestingly enough, correspond to the known depictions of his person as well as to those less recognized ones that are presented in the article. The paper is part of wide-scale research conducted by the author into the iconography of Skarga and its transformations.Pozycja Reinhard Marx, Kapitał.
