Pozycja Aelred z Rievaulx, O duszy, tłumaczenie i przypisy Magdalena Czubak, Kęty: Wydawnictwo Marek Derewiecki 2009, ss. 104.Groń, Ryszard (Towarzystwo Naukowe KUL, 2010)Pozycja Aelred z Rievaulx. Cysterski doktor miłościGroń, Ryszard (Towarzystwo Naukowe KUL, 2009)Aelred of Rievaulx, one of the first and foremost representatives of the so called school of charity propagated by the Cistercian order within the monastic theology, can certainly be considered the Cistercian doctor of charity. This suggestion was earlier proposed by contemporary scholars of the doctrine of the English abbot, especially that it was in keeping with the traditional medieval practice of giving the more prominent spiritual authorities the title of the Church doctor, based on their theological accomplishments. It was about formation of the doctrinal bases for the Cistercian theology and a great contribution to this was the work on charity by Aerled, beside his other piece on Christian friendship, which had already earned him the title of „Doctor of Christian friendship”. An analysis of Speculum caritatis by the abbot of Rievaulx presented against the backdrop of the specificity of monastic theology, which it represents, as well as against its structure subjected to the ultimate goal defined by the authority of the great Bernard, support this position. Those special conditions also had an effect on these contemplations, telling to first ponder on the title of Aelred’s work, which reveals the specificity of the theology practiced by the abbot. Next, in order to explain the major difficulty in the ascetic character of Christian love, insisted on by St. Bernard, the theme of charity was described in three sections. The criterion for the division follows the work’s major idea expressed in the triad of love (amor), greed (cupiditas) and theological love (caritas), which correspond to the three time orders of charity resulting from God’s actions of: creation, redemption and rebirth, which, as argued by P. A. Burton, were explored in the three parts of Speculum. This is why the sections of my work describe: the nature of love in the aspect of creation, reflected in human soul directed toward God, even after a sin; the difficulty of love, connected to greed, which because of Christ’s redemptive cross becomes a sweet yoke of charity for His true followers, and then; the practical side of Christian love, from the point of view of its object and subject. Attentive reading into and analysis of the work on love by Aelred of Rievaulx presented above shows enormous richness of theological knowledge, which proves theological competence of this then young Cistercian abbot (about 33 years old). It is confirmed with his solid preparation and in depth reflection on the issue of charity, as he himself acknowledged, which he then expressed in the language and monastic form familiar to him, which was then prevalent throughout monasteries. This is perhaps one of but few obstacles, which today make reading his work difficult. His value, however, was recognized from the very beginning by the great Bernard of Clairvaux, followed by the entire medieval tradition which left behind over a dozen of his manuscripts. We can only be grateful to Bernard to have nudged the young theologian to compose this excellent work. The depth and richness of its contents certainly prove his own experience in the field of God’s charity, or even its mystical implications, even more so, since monastic theology considered experience as one of the sources of theological wisdom, which was about presenting a practical way to reach God. It might then come as a surprise for such a relatively young theologian to posses this kind of highly sensitive spiritual life. It must have amazed Bernard himself. Maybe, it is time to include Aelread in the ranks of Cistercian mystics. On account of his work, Aelred’s influence has already been recognized by contemporary scholars. Worth mentioning here are: exceptional role of feelings in spiritual pursuit of God and relationships with others; aforementioned „little treatise on affections”; teaching about sabbath as the ultimate rest in God’s love – the source and purpose of perfection for all creation, including the man, who in this sabbath delights in complete unity with God; doctrine of three sabbaths associated with forms of love towards: God, neighbor and oneself, experienced in this life through contemplation of infinite God; ascetic character of love with its sense in the sweet cross of Christ; the role of humanity of Jesus Christ on the way to spiritual growth, and so one. Certainly a number of these components are a reflection of the Augustinian theological environment prominent at that time, but Aelred added them a unique color, or even originality. Considering the above, we can see the English Abbot of Rievaulx as a Cistercian doctor of charity.Pozycja Antoni J. Nowak OFM, Osoba – fakt i tajemnica, Rzeszów: Wyższa Szkoła Inżynieryjno-Ekonomiczna 2009, ss. 224.Paszkowska, Teresa (Towarzystwo Naukowe KUL, 2009)Pozycja Chrystocentryczna postawa miłości Matki Teresy z KalkutyHadryś, Jacek (Towarzystwo Naukowe KUL, 2011)The aim of the article is to show the christocentric attitude of love of bl. Mother Teresa of Calcutta. The source text are Teresa's writings featured in their entirety or in part in the publication “Come Be My Light. The Private Writings of the «Saint of Calcutta»”. The whole presentation has been divided into four parts. The first one presents Teresa's love for Christ, the second deals with the issues of love for Christ in the poorest of the poor, the third addresses the care of the Blessed to minister among the poor in the communion with Christ, and the last one is a look at Mother Teresa’s attitude of love through Benedict XVI’s thoughts selected from his encyclical letter “Deus caritas est”. The summary is a meditation of the Blessed put at the end. The article shows the christocentrism of attitude of love of Mother Teresa of Calcutta.Pozycja Chrystus w duchowości bł. Marii Angeli TruszkowskiejMisiurek, Jerzy (Towarzystwo Naukowe KUL, 2009)Blessed Angela Truszkowska is among the important figures in nineteenth-century Poland. She was a co-founder of the Congregation of Felician Sisters. Her writings testify to her love of Jesus Christ, the Divine Bridegroom and His Church. It is in the Divine Master that Truszkowska had found a sense of religious life, therefore she showed Him as a model of love that did not hesitate to lay down His life and remain under the Eucharistic forms. She encouraged her fellow sisters to fulfil God’s will modelled on Christ, and to imitate Him in their whole life. She thought that the consecrated person was called to sanctity and should make every effort to follow Jesus Christ; His words should be radically put into practice in this person’s life.Pozycja Cierpienie znoszone w duchu zjednoczenia z Jezusowym „pragnę” ad salvandas animasRybicki, Adam (Towarzystwo Naukowe KUL, 2013)The article presents particular elements of the problem sketched in the title: first the very problem of suffering in the context of human existence is discussed; and then the mystery of Christ’s suffering is shown as well as His interpretation of “carrying the cross” and an analysis of His cry “I crave” in the context of the latest exegetic research. The article points to a necessity of unity with Jesus’ “I crave” for all the evangelizing work in the Church.Pozycja Czego nas uczy wiara mistyków? Refleksja na przykładzie pism Siostry Roberty BabiakSynoś, Paweł (Towarzystwo Naukowe KUL, 2012)This paper presents how the mystical life of the Polish mystic Sister Roberta Babiak began, developed and manifested itself. The author discusses the particular stages in her mystical life: from expurgation, through partial union, up to transforming deifying union. In this way, the author illustrates the dynamics of Sister Babiak’s faith and expounds its major functions: help to achieve deeper cognition of the redemptive truths; to get to know God Himself as well as to build communion with Him. The author also examines the attributes of this faith, emphasising the fact that it is ecclesiastical faith, shaped in the harmony with the ecclesiastical heritage and teaching. It is a light and a dark kind of faith, simultaneously: it grants a special gift for understanding the Revelation, but it also is an initiation into the mystery of the secret God. This is a living faith – rich in the gifts of the Holy Spirit – leading to the mystical experience: meeting God, Son and the Holy Spirit inside the mystic.Pozycja Człowiek mieszkaniem Trójcy Świętej. Refleksja na podstawie doświadczenia duchowego siostry Roberty BabiakSynoś, Paweł (Towarzystwo Naukowe KUL, 2010)The mystery of the Holy Trinity is not only the most profound truth in the Christian faith, but also the foundation of Christian spiritual life. This life in its essence appears as participation in the life of God Himself – of the Holy Trinity. The present article is an illustration of its kind of this truth; the illustration is based on Sister Roberta Babiak’s spiritual experience. Sister Roberta Babiak is a Polish mystic who lived in the first half of the 20th century. She experienced the presence of the Holy Trinity, especially while receiving the Eucharist. Receiving the Eucharist Christ was for her entering a direct salutary relation with the Holy Trinity, as result of which she participated in a peculiar exchange of love between her and God. In Sister Roberta’s life, in her unification with God perceived as the Trinity, also theological virtues played an important role. From the possibility of the Holy Trinity taking up residence in man his supernatural dignity results; and the very presence of Triune God in him contributes to his divinization.Pozycja Czy „List biskupów Francji do katolików: proponować wiarę w społeczeństwie aktualnym” może być inspiracją dla Kościoła w Polsce? − antropologiczne i duchowe przesłanieZarzycki, Stanisław (Towarzystwo Naukowe KUL, 2012)This paper presents an analysis of the spiritual message sent by the French bishops to the French faithful in „The Letter to the French Catholics: Proposing Faith to Contemporary Society”. The author analyses the text in the anthropocentric perspective, giving the reader an insight into the axiological crisis in the French society. This helps explain why this society finds it difficult to open itself to spiritual, Christian values. At the same time, those aspects of the religious functioning that are still present in the French society are pinpointed as the assets on which the Church evangelization action should rely. Also discussed is the French crisis of the Catholic faith, and the methods that the episcopal Letter (composed by Claude Dagens, Bishop of Angoulême) suggests for overcoming the crisis. The need for the mobilization of the priests, more active prayer and apostolic associations and for the collective action of all the faithful is also emphasised. The change is only possible if the whole Church returns to the roots of the faith (the mystery of the Trinitarian God, Baptism, the Gospel and the sacraments); accepts a morality based on the experience of the faith, and not on the doctrinal law; preaches about salvation through Christ in a close relationship to the values of contemporary people; seeks power in her liturgy and in the service for the neighbour (diacony). The Letter can be inspirational for Polish Catholicism at the beginning of the Year of Faith. The author claims that the following elements of the Letter are worth pondering upon in the Polish context: (1) taking into account human experience in the time of axiological crisis; (2) a more integrated preaching of the Gospel, liturgy and the service for the neighbour; and (3) increased participation of the lay Catholics in religious communities, in order to shape one’s Catholic identity and to get engaged in the apostolic mission of the Church.Pozycja Doświadczenia religijne rodziców dzieci przygotowujących się do I Komunii ŚwiętejStepulak, Marian (Towarzystwo Naukowe KUL, 2010)The term “experience” is an ambiguous concept, both in the colloquial and scholarly language. One of the kinds of experience is religious experience that consists in man’s immediate contact with religious reality. Understanding, feeling, intuition and personal, independent encounter with sacrum are essential elements of this experience. Sociologists distinguish several indexes of religious experience: feeling of nearness of God, emotional attachment to the Supreme Being, meaning of life, sense of security, aid in everyday life, aid in difficult situations, aid in the final hour of life. In the present article religious experience is analyzed with respect to the characteristics of the period of adulthood. It is the period of life that is interesting not only from the point of view of psychology, but also of religion and spirituality. It is in this period that we witness ultimate formation of one’s identity, of integration of one’s real and ideal ego, of a mature personality and of mature religiousness. Hence, it may be said that the quality and intensity of religious experience in this developmental period is especially interesting. The final part of the article has an empirical character, as it concerns studies of parents of children who are preparing for their First Holy Communion. It is worth stressing that this pastoral situation has a great significance not only for the children’s religious life, but also for that of their parents’.Pozycja Doświadczenie Boga jako „piękna” u św. Franciszka z AsyżuBlock, Wiesław (Towarzystwo Naukowe KUL, 2011)Pozycja Doświadczenie ewangelizatora według świadectwa Kiko ArgüelloMiczyński, Jan Krzysztof (Towarzystwo Naukowe KUL, 2013)Kiko-Argüello’s testimony contains a description of his conversion, growing in faith and of his service to God in the Church. It shows a figure of a man who became an evangelizer. The experience of kenosis, a charismatic experience of God in one’s inside as well as in other people – the poor – is inscribed in the history of his life. Kiko emphasizes the power of God’s action during the preaching of the kerygma – the Gospel. He points to the signs, owing to which modern non-believers open their ears to the preaching of the Gospel. They are: unity among the disciples of Jesus and their love for their enemies. The article shows the importance of modern Christians’ mission of evangelization of in the secularized world.Pozycja Duchowe biesiady ze świętym wychowawcą – Zygmuntem Szczęsnym FelińskimSłomka, Walerian (Towarzystwo Naukowe KUL, 2009)Rev. Zygmunt Szczęsny Feliński was a Spiritual Director of the Alumni at the Spiritual Academy in Sankt Petersburg. He delivered six (registered) conferences in his flat. The tsarist police had them in the Russian version. They were published for the first time in Polish by the Gaudium publishers in 2009 (edited by Rev. M. Duma). The conferences have retained their value up to now. In the year of Bl. Zygmunt Szczęsny Feliński’s canonisation, they perfectly confirm that saints and their teaching are not things of the past.Pozycja Duchowość maryjna według Jana Pawła IIChmielewski, Marek (Towarzystwo Naukowe KUL, 2010)Pozycja Duchowość pasyjna dawniej i dziśZarzycki, Stanisław (Towarzystwo Naukowe KUL, 2011)Pozycja Duchowy i moralny wymiar naśladowania Jezusa Chrystusa − uzasadnienie teologiczne w kontekście dokumentu „Biblia a moralność”Zarzycki, Stanisław (Towarzystwo Naukowe KUL, 2010)The present article attempts to show the moral and spiritual dimensions of the following of Jesus Christ and to emphasize their specific character and the relation that exists between them. It is based on the document issued by the Pontifical Biblical Commission entitled “The Bible and Morality” as well as on theological-moral and theological-spiritual literature. In order to justify “the Biblical roots of Christian conduct” to a modern man the analyzed document sets them on the idea of the gift of the Old and New Covenant as well as of other biblical ideas understood in the Christological and personalistic way. To do so it also stresses the importance of spiritual experience (of God, of Christ), owing to which it appreciates spirituality as prior to revealed morality. This spirituality is always assumed when the origin and the obligation to realize the revealed moral norms is meant. To what degree morality is inscribed in man’s spiritual development is then explained by a theological-spiritual reflection on the Christian experience that should always take into consideration moral obligations (commandments, blessings). The article takes this into consideration, making short references to some ethical-spiritual models and to stages in the development of the spiritual life.Pozycja Egzystencjalny wymiar kerygmatu apostoła PawłaMiczyński, Jan Krzysztof (Towarzystwo Naukowe KUL, 2010)The article presents the “Existential dimension of the Apostle Paul’s kerygma”. In the beginning is a quoted definition of a Greek noun kérygma. The theological sense of this word and comes from its verb kerýssein means − to preaching the Good News about Jesus Christ. To announce the Gospel was a particular solicitude of the Apostolic Church, of Saint Paul. The Apostle introduced himself in Romans as: “Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle and set apart for the gospel of God – the gospel he promised beforehand through his prophets in the Holy Scriptures” (1, 1). The author of the article sets his sights on presenting a live force contained in kerygmat, which preached the Apostle of the Nations, as well as showing the source of the power of the Good News and the necessity of delivering it to all people in the world.Pozycja Elżbieta Matulewicz, Miłosierdzie Boże w charyzmacie Zgromadzenia Księży Marianów, Lublin: Wydawnictwo Polihymnia 2007, ss. 427.Chmielewski, Marek (Towarzystwo Naukowe KUL, 2009)Pozycja Ewangelizacja wspólnotowa zrodzona z doświadczenia komunii KościołaSynoś, Paweł (Towarzystwo Naukowe KUL, 2013)In the article the issue of community evangelization springing from the Church’s experience of communion is undertaken. In its initial part the concepts of evangelization and the Church’s communion are precisely defined. Then the author stresses that the Church by its nature has the character of community, which results from both the social nature of man and God’s idea to lead people to salvation not individually, but as a community. Small Christian communities have a special place in the work of evangelization, and it is in them that the Church’s shepherds see one of the most important signs of its revival. It is exactly them that allow to keep and develop faith in the modern world, and at the same time they become dynamic circles involved in evangelization. They give the world a testimony of unity and of Christian love. This love is expressed in preaching the truth of the Gospel, it is fed and consolidated by common celebration of liturgy, and it is made concrete by the service to all people, especially the ones afflicted with suffering.Pozycja Figura biblijnego Dawida wzorem relacji mężczyzny do BogaKowalska, Izabela (Towarzystwo Naukowe KUL, 2010)
