The purpose of this article is to present the research problem related with conducting a critical analysis of two polemical writings authored by the leading representatives of the Catholic-Orthodox religious polemics who lived on the Ruthenian lands of the First Republic of Poland. The works will include: Perspektywa (1642) by Kasjan Sakowicz and Lithos (1644) by Piotr Mohyła. The project, which is also aimed at later publication of the above texts provided with a commentary, will play a significant role in the development of knowledge about literary culture created both by the followers of the Catholic Church and by writers originating from the sphere of Eastern Christianity in the first half of the seventeenth century.

Alliance between natural sciences and the humanities postulated by Konrad Lorenz found its creative expression primarily in the alliance between philosophy and ethology. Numerous Lorenz’s works show the impact of ethology on the intensity of philosophical reflection on a number of issues traditionally undertaken by disciplines such as philosophical anthropology, ontology, epistemology and ethics. Anthropological relevance of ethology determines the prospect of exploring its eco-educational relevance. This means that the ethological concept of man as a cultural being from his nature is the starting point for the work on the strategy of ecological education, which express actualization of biological potential of man in the course of his ontogenetic adaptation to the specific conditions of the natural environment.

Facebook is currently the most popular social network site in the world. Having accounts on Facebook has become obvious for a lot of people, especially for teenagers. However, contrary to this trend a part of the society, including youngsters, decide not to use Facebook. Is this a sign of maturity or maladjustment? The purpose of this paper is to provide an answer to the question about the maturity of those teenagers who do not have an active account on Facebook.

The contemporary, Western European social thought shuns any attempts to define the social sphere by the category of “nation”. Meanwhile, as many Polish thinkers examining the social dimension of human existence argue, a properly understood concept of nation helps in better understanding of the social dimension of the person and explains many phenomena of community life. This article is an attempt to portray, in a synthetic way, understanding of the category of “nation” which can be found in the work of the most outstanding representatives of Polish personalism.
Okoliczności powstania Niższego Seminarium Towarzystwa Salezjańskiego w Reginowie w okresie II Rzeczypospolitej

In the article the author outlines a history of the Salesian Minor Seminary of Don Bosco in Reginów by the Szczara River. The period of Salesian activity in this region covers the 1930s of the twentieth century. The author described in detail the history of the manor house in Reginów and family connections of the donors – families of Baliński and Jundziłło. The Missionary Seminary, which commenced education of boys in 1937, existed only for two years and closed its activity with the outbreak of World War II. After the war, Salesians never returned there, while Reginów was incorporated into Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic (now the Republic of Belarus).

The Council, which took place on 18-26 June 2016 in Crete was an extremely important event that referred to the rich tradition of the Orthodox Ecumenical Councils. The Council pointed to the key challenges faced by man today. Among these challenges there is the ecological crisis. Teaching of the council suggests that this crisis is anthropogenic in its nature. Its sources are the secularization and the weakening of human ties with the Creator, which leads to egoism, individualism, consumerism and abuses against nature. As a chance to overcome the crisis, the council indicates ecological conversion, Christian asceticism, proper education and inter-generational responsibility.

Child’s joy is a feeling specific in its nature. The child is able to derive pleasure from a variety of sources – from a spontaneous activity satisfying the need for physical exercise as well as cognitive needs, from the experience of overcoming obstacles, a momentary creative success, from short-term social contacts and long-term relationships with loved people, from play with peers, contact with nature and art. The feeling of joy underlies all the positive social reactions of the child and inspires a positive attitude to the world and people. This article aims to characterize the source and essence of children’s joy and to identify the role and importance of this feeling in the comprehensive development of the child.

Artykuł prezentuje list ks. Szczepana Trochty, dyrektora domu salezjańskiego w Pradze, do Przełożonego Generalnego salezjanów ks. Piotra Ricardone w Turynie, wysłany po wyzwoleniu z KL Dachau. Ksiądz Trochta relacjonuje w nim swój trzyletni pobyt w niemieckich obozach zagłady, informuje przełożonego o losie innych salezjanów, którzy więzieni byli w KL Dachau. Ksiądz Szczepan Trochta w 1947 roku został mianowany biskupem litomierzyckim. W 1951 roku został przez władze komunistyczne internowany, a w 1953 roku skazany na 25 lat więzienia. W 1960 zwolniono go w wyniku amnestii. 24.IV.1969 roku został mianowany przez papieża Pawła VI kardynałem in pectore. Nominacja została ujawniona przez Stolicę Apostolską 5.III.1973 roku.
Rozumienie i potrzeba chrześcijańskiego wychowania moralnego w kontekście kryzysu moralnego Europy

The crisis of European civilization manifests itself in the crisis of humanity, crisis of conscience as well as in the legitimate devaluation of life. Apart from it, many people compromise Christianity as they fail to follow moral principles in everyday life. It is, therefore, most important to undertake a discussion on the essential values which constitute the foundations on which the edifice of the structure of society and its cultural background is being erected. The shaping of mature human and Christian attitudes appears to be nowadays a great challenge. To cope with this process, it is necessary to visualize the notion of Christian pedagogy, to emphasize the fundamental role of conscience in education, as well as to indicate the threat hidden in manipulation. The above issues, presented, of course, in a concise form, constitute the essence of this article.
Rozważania o apofatycznej kategorii „negacja negacji”

The article deals with the category of double negation, representative of the apophatic theology. It begins with mystical theologies of Maimonides and Meister Eckhart. Next, the article presents the category in question from quite a different perspective – it attempts to place it in the context of the ontological relationship between the finite and the infinite and look at it from a “positive” angle. Although, the “negation of negation” as the element of (negative) mystical contemplation remains beyond rational interpretation (as mystical experience in general), this category can, in fact, be “grasped” in type of metaanalysis, i.e. as a philosophical and theological category.

The Catholic Church appeals to the faithful and Christian families to pursue holiness. The present paper seeks the answer to the question whether, and to what extent, the offer of the Scouts of Europe responds to the Catholic families’ expectations. The first part outlines the issue of appealing to the members of the Catholic Church to pursue holiness. Then, the same appeal is discussed in the context of whole families. Subsequently, the paper presents the Scouts of Europe as a Catholic association of the faithful, and their statutory proposals and forms are discussed. The content of these documents constitutes a guarantee for Catholic parents that their child, when given under the charge of the Scouts of Europe, will grow in the spirit of the Catholic faith.

The virtue of honesty has a fundamental role in an educational process towards values. Honesty as a virtue is extremely important especially in the educational mission of a teacher. Therefore, the aim of this publication/article is to show the meaning of teacher’s honesty in the process of educating a student about values in the school environment. An honest teacher should accompany the student in discovering a way of life and help him to make good choices based on an objective hierarchy of values.
Uniwersalizm miłości wychowawczej w systemie prewencyjnym Jana Bosko

A preventive system – as Don Bosco stated (1815-1888) – “is based entirely on reason, religion and kindness (love of education)”. These three basic principles not only mutually intertwine, but also condition one another. The active nature of the love of education in the preventive system of Don Bosco and its universality is revealed in the care for the individual as well as in respect, understanding and responsibility. It also means a professional orientation of the teacher that is focused on the child and its developmental needs and in discovering in each student a rational, free and responsible person which is sensitive to goodness, truth and beauty and which is capable of self-reflection, self-fulfilment, creativity and transcendence.
