Liturgia domowa sprawowana przez małżonków w codzienności
Mateja, Erwin (Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, 2020)
The description of the Christian family as the “home sanctuary of the Church” shows that it is a place of preparation of its members for participation in the liturgy celebrated in the parish community. At the same time, it is also a place of extension the house of worship celebrated in the parish church. One of the main needs of a family and marriage is religious family culture, expressed at home in a joint prayer. Its nurture is to lead to the creation of a specific religious ritual of the family. For such a ritual to be also accepted and practiced by the young generation, it must be something genuinely experienced by the spouses. The formation that children receive from their parents is to help them love their own family and what is important to Catholic spouses and parents. This article is an attempt to show the richness of family prayers, but also religious customs and practices associated with the liturgical year and sacraments or blessings receined.

Eucharystia i Trójca Święta. Aspekt liturgiczny
Królikowski, Janusz (Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, 2020)
Christian faith is based on the mystery of the Holy Trinity which, therefore, plays an indispensable role in the understanding of the particular truths of faith. This statement refers also to the Eucharist. The New Testament, and especially the Gospel of John, conveys an explicit depiction of the links between the Holy Trinity and the Eucharist. The New Testament tradition has found its continuation in theology, and it has been predominantly seen in the Eucharistic Prayers. This paper highlights certain Trinitarian aspects of the mystery of the Eucharist, in order to point out further possibilities both for deepening the understanding of this mystery and for more integral incorporation of it into faith and Christian experience.

Misja Ducha Świętego w przepowiadaniu słowa Bożego na podstawie adhortacji Evangelii gaudium, papieża Franciszka
Nagel, Zygmunt (Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, 2020)
We observe manifestations of the Holy Spirit’s activity on many levels of our lives. This article highlights the mission of the Holy Spirit in preaching the God’s word in the context of Pope Francis’ exhortation Evangelii gaudium, who combines the preaching of the Gospel with the direct action of the Holy Spirit. We want to see the Holy Spirit’s mission in the context of the New Evangelization in the broad sense. By interpreting this issue even more precisely, we can talk about auto-evangelization, which concerns the evangelizers themselves. Lay people and clergy, opened to the inspiration of Holy Spirit, are the ones, who agree to be instruments in His hands. The mission of the Holy Spirit in this article is analyzed in many aspects, i.e. from His influence on the God’s word preacher’s heart, through the mission of instructing, supporting and healing him, to His influence on nations and their cultures. The mission of the Holy Spirit understood in this way emphasizes His will to salve every human.

Liturgia katechumenatu jako paradygmat dla katechezy przedsakramentalnej
Bartocha, Waldemar (Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, 2020)
The aim of the article is to show the liturgy of the catechumenate as a paradigm for pre-sacramental catechesis. The post-conciliar ritual of Christian initiation of adults contains a wealth of content that has not yet been fully discovered by priests and catechists. In view of the processes of secularization taking place in modern society and the increasing number of people who have not been baptized as children and those who, for various reasons, have interrupted the path of Christian initiation and wish to return to it, there is an urgent need to develop various forms of both baptismal and post-baptismal catechumenate to enable them to grow in faith. The catechumenal inspiration of the pre-sacramental catechesis, which presupposes the adoption of a formative style and dynamism appropriate to the catechumenate in the case of children and young people, must correlate with their current stage of psychophysical development. The post-conciliar ritual equips the Episcopal Conferences with a range of adaptive possibilities that they can use to develop different models of pre-sacramental catechesis, especially for children of catechizing age. It also seems particularly important to undertake a pastoral reflection on marriage catechumenate proposed by Pope Francis, which not only provides an opportunity to renew preparation for the sacrament of marriage, but also enables the effective evangelization of spouses and their families, since in its integral structure it leads to a personal encounter with Jesus Christ through the word of God, the liturgy and works of mercy.

Motywy chrzcielne w odnowionych obrzędach pogrzebu
Odziomek, Paweł (Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, 2020)
The motives of baptism contained in the rites of the funeral constitute the subject of this article, which testifies the mutual relation of the liturgical celebrations. The relation between baptism and funeral is very interesting, although not so popular. The inspiration of writing this article came from the funeral rites, that in one of the initial phrases speak about God’s accomplishing action of the baptismal initiation. Comparative analyses indicate common sources of the celebrations, as well as mutual references on theological and semantical levels. The considered data have been presented in three aspects: paschal, eschatological, and mystagogical, referring the process of Christian initiation. Both rites, that of baptism and of the funeral are rooted in the Paschal Mystery of Jesus Christ, which introduce man into the depth of faith and new quality of life. The article can contribute to better understanding of the baptismal rites and the funeral rites, as well as the unity of the sacraments and sacramentals. The study may also help in preparing the funeral homiilies and also catechesis and conferences on the liturgical celebrations. It may trigger an interest for further systematic reflection and research on this subject.

La porta della chiesa. Luogo liturgico trascurato
Jura, Piotr Paweł (Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, 2020)
The main door of a church does not only have the sole function as a point of entry or exit but it must perform the iconic function of primary importance in a complex path as a cultural and cultic symbol. Sacred architecture must firstly correspond to liturgical requirements. It does not stand on it’s own but must shape what is sacred in order to be truly functional, therefore becoming a synthesis of form, content and purpose. The door, being part of the architecture, is not simply an opening on the wall, but it is a liturgical and symbolic point which must be strongly characterized.

Liturgiczne uwarunkowania umiejscowienia ołtarza i tabernakulum we wnętrzu sakralnym po II Soborze Watykańskim w XX wieku
Bogdan, Mirosław (Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, 2020)
The article attempts to document that the separation of the tabernacle from the altar ordered in the Post-Conciliar documents has a specific impact on architecture and sacred art. This concerns Post-conciliar liturgical conditions, which are the source of architectural conditions and the way of liturgical arrangement of the interior in the second half of the 20th century. The article, taking into account contemporary architecture clearly, without analyzing the historic renovated interiors, emphasizes the search for modernist methods of building liturgical interiors that have the right to use the modern language of mystical expression. It is proved that the post-Conciliar methods of using contemporary aesthetics bring specific solutions for the existence of liturgical art responsible for the construction of the church interior from the altar, which is the center of the sacred space. Therefore, in addition to the tabernacle, it is the pulpit, sedilia, baptismal font, and paintings and other cult objects that find their place in the space responsible for the clear approximation of the faithful zone to the altar zone, whose highest element, visible to all, is the sacrifice table.

Ordinarium missae & Ordo missae – Notable differences to be maintained in translation?
Ryan, Fergus M.T. (Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, 2020)
Two Latin expressions, Ordo missae and Ordinarium missae, are employed in precise, technical ways in liturgical books and documents of the Roman rite but they are sometimes confused with each other. One has been commonly used when referring to musical compositions of the longer sung texts of the Roman Mass and was used thus in the new chapter of the Institutio Generalis Missali Romani which treats of matters within the competence of Episcopal Conferences. Recent translations of the two Latin expressions in liturgical books for local churches have taken different and even inconsistent routes. Less than ideal translation has affected the rendering of an important new text in the General Instruction regarding the composition of liturgical music and Episcopal Conferences. The author seeks to clarify the usage of the two Latin expressions and how they have been translated differently and inconsistently in major Western languages. He concludes by suggesting there be a consistent approach in the translation of technical terms from Latin into spoken languages.

In the first part of the article the attention focuses on the history of the obligation to the Liturgy of the Hours. In the second part the Liturgy of the Hours and its presence in the permanent deaconate is shown from canonical point of view. The third part concerns with the complementary rules of the Conferences of Bishops regarding the subject.

Reforma liturgiczna Soboru Watykańskiego II w opinii i życiu alumnów Archidiecezjalnego Seminarium Duchownego w Krakowie w latach jej wprowadzania
Mieczkowski, Janusz (Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, 2020)
The fathers of the Second Vatican Council were aware that the proper introduction of liturgical renewal would depend on how the clergy itself would be prepared to adopt liturgical reform. The article presents how the liturgical formation of the seminarists of the Archdiocesan Seminary in Krakow was carried out during the introduction of liturgical renewal (from the sixties to the eighties of the twentieth century). This formation was accomplished through the following elements: learning the conciliar teaching through liturgy lectures, guest lectures, scientific sessions and symposia, a clerical circle of liturgy enthusiasts, and learning the rites of the reformed liturgy in the Seminary Chapel or the Wawel Cathedral. Clerics also had the opportunity to present their own thoughts on liturgical renewal by publishing articles in the internal seminar journal “Novum Tempus Liberum”.

    Humanista Francisco de Peñalosa (c. 1470–1528) i jego „Lamentacje”
Odoj, Wojciech (Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, 2020)
Francisco de Peñalosa (c. 1470–1528), who is considered to be the greatest and finest Spanish composer prior to Cristóbal de Morales, composed a significant number of the compositions which are mainly preserved in Tarazona 2/3 (copied between 1521 and 1528), the largest source of Iberian sacred music from the early sixteenth century. Among the Tarazona compositions there are four Lamentations, of which three are attributed to Peñalosa. His Lamentations appear to be the earliest Spanish polyphonic settings of Jeremiah poems whose authorship is known. Peñalosa’s Lamentations are slightly different from the others composed at that time. Written by a composer from the peninsula, they have at least a few characteristics typical for Spanish writing, which distinguishes them from other Lamentations found in Petrucci’s collection of 1506, and some others which resulted from his individual approach to the treatment of Jeremiah verses. By special treatment of the words of the Lamentations Peñalosa joined the broad group of the composers affected and inspired by the beauty of the poem and deep emotions which it expresses. As a composer who was a maestro de musica and music teacher of the king’s grandson, Ferdinand, and who could have studied liberal arts and known Latin fluently, Peñalosa reveals himself as a creative artist, and a true and sensitive human being, as a person who was aware of what means to be a humanist.

Teksty liturgiczne w wielogłosowych mszach żałobnych ze zbioru rękopisów Biblioteki Ojców Paulinów na Jasnej Górze w Częstochowie
Smolarek, Dariusz (Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, 2020)
European musical tradition transmits a considerable number of polyphonic missa pro Defunctis arrangements in the preserved collection (e.g. Benedictines in Kremsmünster, Einsiedeln, Lambach, Cistercians in Stams, Heiligenkreuz, Capuchins in Prague, Ursulines in Bratislava). Repertoire of music bands operating at churches in the former Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth (17th and 18th centuries, during the partitions in the 19th century) also included polyphonic compositions to the text of the funeral mass. Requiems were performed by bands at monastic churches (Cistercians, Dominicans, Piarists, Jesuits) and diocesan churches. Those included works by Polish and foreign composers. The activity of the Jasna Góra musical band in Częstochowa also fits in this tradition, the repertoire of which includes over 40 requial compositions from the second half of the 18th century and 19th century. These are works of musicians working with the Pauline ensemble (L. Maader, F. Gotschalk) and other Polish composers (M. Zwierzchowski, J. Engel. J. Elsner) and foreign (W.A. Mozart, E. Pausch, J. Gotsche, J.M. Dreyer). Aim of the article is to present requiem works preserved in the collection of the Monastery Library of Pauline Fathers at Jasna Góra and their reception in other Polish and European centres. Liturgical text of the funeral mass will be presented, as well as its translation and interpolations used by the authors and indication the functioning of the composition missa pro defunctis at Jasna Góra.

Ambony typu lubiąskiego i lubiąsko-głogowskiego w sztuce barokowej Śląska oraz Wielkopolski. Geneza, ewolucja i migracja form
Kolbiarz, Artur (Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, 2020)
The pulpit of the church of the Cistercian abbey in Lubiąż, designed by Matthias Steinl, was a landmark work for the development of modern pulpits in Silesia. Its popularity has resulted in several repetitions, where the scale of the similarities and differences in terms of the original division of replication allows us to enter the monument into two sets. The first relates to works paraphrasing the forms of the Lubiąż pulpit exclusively, made at the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries and covers the central and south-eastern part of Lower Silesia, as well as the south-west part of Upper Silesia. A significant role in its popularization was played by the patronage of the Silesian aristocracy (both secular and ecclesiastical), support of monasteries, as well as the artistic center in Wrocław. The second group includes monuments combining Lubiąż concepts with ideas contained in the pulpit of the collegiate church in Głogów. Built during the second quarter of the 18th century, the range covered mainly the Silesian-Greater Poland borderland. In this case, Głogów probably played the main role as a pattern propagating center.

Pijcież, moi przyjaciele. Upijcie się! Idea duchowego pijaństwa i mistyka oblubieńcza w protestanckim wnętrzu kościelnym
Wisłocki, Marcin (Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, 2020)
The increasing significance of bridal mysticism as a distinctive tendency in seventeenth-century Lutheran devotion made a great impact on emblematic concepts in both emblem books and in ecclesiastical spaces. These concepts were transformed in order to emphasize chosen theological ideas related to the Song of Songs. The basis for the examination is a co prehensive program of the southern gallery in the church at Steinhagen by Stralsund (c. 1670–1680), inspired by Georg Philipp Harsdörffer’s emblems in Johann Michael Dilherr’s Göttliche Liebesflamme (1651), yet revealing slight alterations within biblical verses in order to present various play on meanings. The theological core constitutes the idea of spiritual drunkenness, widely known from medieval literature. It was visualized with the help of a pictura from Andreas Friedrich’s Emblemata nova (1617), yet transformed in the spirit of illustrations to mystical visions. This highly individual example reveals a strong influence of Johann Arndt as a crucial representative of the heart devotion (Herzfrömmigkeit).
