Jordan jako prefiguracja wtajemniczenia chrześcijańskiego. Przykład geografii zbawienia
Zybała, Michał (Wydawnictwo Diecezjalne Adalbertinum, 2019)
The term “geography of salvation” rarely appears in biblical theology. Occasionally, the term “sacred geography” is encountered. Yet it seems that the geography of salvation signifies much more than the sacred geography which means an arrangement of biblical events in space and their relationship with the sites. The geography of salvation, as proved in this article, implies a deliberate work of God who wanted to veil his Revelation not only in history but also in geography. It means that analysing the geographical environment of the sites related to biblical events and linking them with their function can lead to a discovery what God wanted to reveal by placing the events in the specific environment. The argumentation in the thesis was conducted on the basis of the River Jordan and its function in the synoptic Gospels against the background of the other books of the Bible. The conclusion of the article is the discovery that the River Jordan, and more precisely its geographical environment and function in the Bible, is a prefiguration of the baptismal initiation and the nature of the baptism itself.

Some clergymen were committed to the process of creation of political and economic basics of Lithuania’s independence. Bóg, który mówi do serca. Sposób działania Boga wobec niewiernego Izraela w Oz 2, 16
Jaszczołt, Maciej (Wydawnictwo Diecezjalne Adalbertinum, 2019)
The article talks about the actions of God as described by prophet Hosea in Hos 2: 16-25, which are the consequence of the sin and the unfaithfulness shown by Israel to God. Despite the fact that Israel's sin of should be met with punishment from God, Hosea predicts God's mercy. To formulate this, the prophet applies a rare idiomatic Hebrew expression דבר על־לב, which could be translated as talking kindly to the heart. The article conducts a short analysis of nine instances in the Bible in which this expression has been used, underlining the difficulties and lack of consequences in translating this expression to Polish. Subsequently, an interpretation of דבר על־לב, as applied by Hosea in the above mentioned passage, was carried out. The explanation of the idiom has as its aim a more profound understanding of the message conveyed in the selected excerpt. The use of the image of marriage in this text, which is accompanied by forgiveness to an unfaithful wife, became for Hosea an illustration of mercy that God shows to His believers.

Cinque discepoli, radunati ai piedi della croce, accompagnano Gesù morente come il vero e autentico Maestro (Gv 19,24h-27)
Grochowski, Zbigniew (Wydawnictwo Diecezjalne Adalbertinum, 2019)
The episode of the division of Jesus’ garments (Gv 19,23-24g) and the scene of the “testament from the cross” (Jn 19:24h-27) is strongly contrasted by the correlative and antithetical particles μέν-οὖν-δέ (Jn 19:24h.25a). It suggests, among other things, to see precisely four women below the cross of Christ (and the disciple whom Jesus loved). Other arguments also lead to this conjecture. The importance concerning the number of Jesus’ followers, accompanying their dying Master, is connected with a rabbinical tradition that says: to deserve the title of a true and authentic master it was necessary to have at least five disciples around him. The inclusion of the whole Fourth Gospel, obtained thanks to the pericopes Jn 1:35-51 and Jn 19:24h-27, where five disciples appear – first called by Jesus to follow him, then present at the foot of the cross – leads to the conclusion that Jesus, from the beginning of his activity on earth until his last breath, appears as the true and authentic Master, always accompanied by his disciples, whose number was incessantly sufficient to ascribe to Jesus the title of the Rabbi.

Metaforyczne znaczenie wilka w kontekście samotności i osamotnienia bohaterów utworów „Samotność wilków” Marka Harnego oraz „Pogromcy wilków” Christopha Ransmayra i Martina Pollacka
Naplocha, Anna (Wydawnictwo Diecezjalne Adalbertinum, 2019)
The purpose of this article is to present a way of showing loneliness in two separate literary works. In the novel, The Solitude of Wolves by Marek Harny, the main character is Marek Nowicki. The discourse on the individualʼs loneliness towards traumatic experiences with wolves related to their childhood and for the Polish-Ukrainian conflict of the twentieth century is taken into account. A similar theme is included in the title reportage – The Wolf Hunter – written in the form of a literary duo by Christoph Ransmayr and Martin Pollack. Such a report shows the experience of loneliness and helplessness of the Ukrainian, Vasil Borsuk, against the resettlement campaign called “Vistula”. The next part of the article presents a historical outline of the Polish-Ukrainian conflict in the Bieszczady Mountains as well as the aspects of characters’ life resulting from this conflict which make up the loneliness experienced by them. In addition, attempts have been made to prove that wolves which are inseparably connected with the lives of characters, are not just a background to the events of their lives, but constitute a kind of allegory of their fate.

    Sejny a niepodległość
Wysocki, Wiesław Jan (Wydawnictwo Diecezjalne Adalbertinum, 2019)
The land in the north-eastern corner of Poland (the region of Suwałki, Sejny, Augustów) was in the Russian partition for 100 years. Everything that was connected with Poland was fought by repressions. This area was full of nationality, cultural and religious variety. After the World War II a chance for regaining independence by Poland and Lithuania has appeared. Lithuanian people did not want to agree to the border line according to the so called Foch line. Germans who had to withdraw, favored the formation of the structure of Lithuanian authorities. It leaded to the Sejny Uprising, as the result of which Suwalszczyzna became a part of Poland. It brought dipper division between Polish and Lithuanian people, who in the past created Commonwealth.

The collection of all scientific articles published in “Studia Ełckie” within twenty years (1999-2018) is quite substantial – it has 504 items. The diversity of the 266 authors and the problems they are undertaking indicates little interest in the scientific journal.

Czasopismo naukowe diecezji ełckiej „Studia Ełckie” w dwudziestoletniej służbie nauce i Kościołowi 1999-2018
Kopiczko, Tomasz; Sieńkowski, Marcin (Wydawnictwo Diecezjalne Adalbertinum, 2019)
The aim of the study was to summarize the activity of the journal of the diocese of Ełk during the period 1999-2018 and to outline the development plan related to the reform (2018). The initiation of the project in the form of a scientific journal has created opportunities for the development and publishing of research results carried out by scientists mainly belonging to the diocese of Ełk. Many of them used this opportunity. Sharing the results of our own scientific research was at the same time the propagation of the journal and the environment creating it. The considerable scientific output published in the “Studia Ełckie” in a permanent way inscribed in shaping the scientific awareness of the north-eastern Poland. The presentation of the origins and development of the journal turned out to be difficult as long as there are no detailed written sources. It must be admitted that the history of this periodical, although not too long, is quite rich in various transformations. We should appreciate the effort of not only hundreds of authors and reviewers who co-created the magazine, but also those who, through their commitment and dedication, took care of its shape and development.
