Kongregacja Rozkrzewiania Wiary a bernardyńska misja sui iuris na Sachalinie
Sitnik, Aleksander Krzysztof (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2023)
Artykuł prezentuje pracę misyjną polskich bernardynów, którą podjęli na Sachalinie japońskim na początku XX w. W 1932 r. Kongregacja Rozkrzewiania Wiary utworzyła samodzielną placówkę misyjną sui iuris i oddała ją pod opiekę Zakonowi Braci Mniejszych, prowincji bernardyńskiej w Polsce.

Post-Sentence Mediation – Its Rationale and Importance in Light of the Teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. A Look From the Perspective of a Catholic Country
Sitarz, Olga; Hanc, Jakub; Bek, Dominika; Jaworska-Wieloch, Anna (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2023)
Victim-offender mediation in enforcement proceedings is a new challenge for the justice system in Poland and many countries around the world. The number of such mediations is currently very small. The lack of appropriate regulations and enthusiasm among representatives of the studies and its practitioners make it difficult to search for a way to popularize a conciliatory attitude in enforcement proceedings. The authors of this publication seek arguments in favour of post-sentence mediation in the teaching of the Roman Catholic Church. The importance of faith and religion in the lives of many people (including convicts) and an analysis of the texts of Sacred Scripture and statements of clergymen on forgiveness and satisfaction allow us to be optimistic about the Church’s efforts to encourage the implementation of principles so important to restorative justice.

The Communion of Saints in Light of Ancestor Veneration in Africa and Its Sequels on the Christian Theology of Hope
Omollo, Fredrick (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2023)
The article argues that the praxis of ancestor veneration in Africa is a system akin to the Christian belief in the “communion of saints.” It is a system for realizing the fullest potential of human (religious) experience. Humanness is a skill developed to become more and more human with God’s help. In this regard, well-being, or in the Christian sense, “salvation” is the fruitful accomplishment of a person’s proficiencies by sustaining beneficial relationships between earthly descendants and their ancestors. This worldview is scrutinized through the lens of the Christian doctrine of the communion of saints; thus, it is a present reality and pathway to attaining fullness of well-being. The author recognizes the tripartite Church and identifies the “exalted spiritual life,” “resurrected life,” and divine life as systematically possessed through living the doctrine of the communion of saints. Christian hope is thoroughly Christological, transcending merely natural ties.

Church and Family in Africa: Challenges and Opportunities
Ojore, Aloys Otieno (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2023)
The author dwells on marriage and family life in the light of Ecclesia in Africa. He praises Ecclesia in Africa as a milestone in Africa’s ecclesial life. He gives an overview of the various emerging models of family across the world confronting the traditional Catholic understanding of marriage and the family. He insists that the African family model of polygamy should be reviewed and re-considered in light of the emerging Western models of gay and lesbian families.

Christian and Muslim Faith in the Same God After the Second Vatican Council
Krupa, Jozef (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2023)
This article engages in a discussion about whether Christians and Muslims believe in the same God. It first presents the opinions of the authors who take a negative view, then the opinions of those who take a positive view. It also gives one Muslim viewpoint on the subject. In the next part, based on the letter of Pope Gregory VII, the Second Vatican Council, the address of Paul VI, the address of John Paul II, the Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together, the address by Pope Francis at an interreligious meeting in Ur, and concluded by the Prayer of the Children of Abraham, it claims that Christians and Muslims believe in the same God. The author does not address the issue of every religion believing in the same God differently. In objecting to the view of the common belief of both monotheistic religions in the same God with the fact that Muslims do not recognize the Most Holy Trinity, the author points out that even Jews do not believe in it and no one disputes that Jews and Christians believe in the same God.

    Autonomiczność tekstu homilii
Klementowicz, Michał (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2023)
The purpose of this article is to describe the construction of the homily as an autonomous text. The article distinguishes between the substantive and structural levels through which the Word proclaimed in the celebration will be given a characteristic typological shape. Consequently, there is no semiotic link between the structure of the homily and the other texts. The aim here is to allow for the so-called ‘disposition of the content’ during the proclamation of the Word in the liturgy. Autonomy described in this fashion bridges the gap between the meaning communicated by the priest (what is said) and the meaning of the text actually received by the audience (what is understood).

Sociological Research in Pastoral Theology. Objectives and Execution
Kiełb, Dominik (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2023)
The interdisciplinarity of scientific discourse is a common phenomenon in modern times. What is more, it is postulated that analyses conducted as part of theological research should take into account the achievements of other fields of knowledge and use the research methods and techniques they have developed. This is primarily because theology, and especially pastoral theology, must refer to other sciences, especially sociology, to solve certain research problems. Using sociological methods and techniques primarily requires diagnosing the current pastoral situation. With these methods, first credible conclusions and then realistic postulates can be formulated. The formulated postulates have a real value as they are based on confronting and verifying models, content, methods and forms used. The goal of this article is to present the main paradigms in the field of theology that require sociological research and then detailed sociological methods and techniques used in pastoral research. A specialist, technical knowledge of sociological measurements and praxeological interpretation of empirical data will be presented concerning the latter issue. Many studies in the field of pastoral theology require detailed sociological knowledge to create a research tool, select a research sample, perform research, and interpret its results.
