    Ekologiczne wyzwanie dla refleksji moralnej
Jurczyk, Bernard (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 1990)
The article deals with what is one of the greatest problems of the contemporary world, namely, the degradation of our natural environment. Pope John Paul II refers to it as the ecological question. In his opinion its origins life first of all in man's moral crisis. Man's natural environment is not only valuable in its own right, but it also is the biosphere of human life. Man and environment constitute a kind of unity. Man is linked to the environment through the relation of contemplation, symbiosis and work. These relations have their parallels in the moral sphere, which are the substance of appropriate rights and duties. That is why a threat to the environment always constitutes a threat to the human right to life, which is guarded by God's commandment, "Thou shalt not kill". The ecological crisis thus challenges us to search for a saving remedy. A special role in this falls to the moral disciplines: ethics and moral theology. It is up to them to work out both general and particular principles of man’s ecological behaviour so as to make it affirm human dignity and the value of the environment. Aiming at a philosophical and theological synthesis, moral reflection ought to take into account such constitutive elements as participation in the mystery of sin, sense of responsibility, correct hierarchy of values, due autonomy of the natural environment, and man's dignity. Existing attempts to develop a morality of ecology by A. Schweitzer, A. Auer, T. Ślipko and J. Grzesica are also discussed.

W poszukiwaniu chrześcijańskiego fundamentu etyki zawodowej nauczycieli
Nagórny, Janusz (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 1990)
The fact that there are only a few Church pronouncements on the ethics of the teaching profession is a challenge to look for a Christian foundation for it somewhere else. The author proposes an indirect route, by invoking the Christian vision of school and education, discerning the social dimension of the teacher's mission and interpreting the teacher's profession as a way of Christian vocation after the model of Christ the Teacher. In the light of the Vatican II documents, post-conciliar social teaching and a special document issued by the Congregation of Catholic Education, the author stresses the educational functions of the school. At the same time he presents an integrate dvision of education that recognizes the autonomy of the pupil and his participation the education process and recognizes the fundamental rights of parents in education. All that leads to a number of practical ethical precepts. One natural element of integral formation is to prepare the pupil for participation in the life of society. The preparation crucially depends on one's conception of social life. In the author's opinion the social dimension of the educator's mission is determined by the Christian vision of social commmunication through faith and love and by the Christian conception of work. Being a teacher and an educator is more than just a proffesion; it is vocation, which to a Christian means, being called by God. The model Christ the Teacher makes it possible to see the essence of the calling in more specific terms.

    Chrześcijańska godność kobiety
Mroczkowski, Ireneusz (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 1990)
After Mulieris dignitatem and Christifideles laici we can afford to look at the main elements of the Christian anthropology of woman without simplifications. The author first discusses three historical models of the relations between women and men, i. e. subordination of women, distinction on equal terms, and abstract equality of the sexes. Then he considers Christ's attitude to women, which was orientated not so much towards women's social or cultural liberation as towards bringing out the redemptive sense of a woman's life. Christian anthropology, which is based on Biblical, cultural and psychological premises, states three major points regarding women: the equality of men and women, the need to include sexuality in the account of woman as a person, and a woman's ability to open herself lovingly towards a man. This rules out both woman's subordination to man and a levelling of differences undertaken in the spirit of extreme feminism. From a Christian viewpoint, it is impossible to separate sex from love, sexuality from maternity, procreation from family, partnership from love, femininity from masculinity.

Małżeństwo i prokreacja w kontekście zagrożenia AIDS
Wróbel, Józef (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 1990)
AIDS has consequences in many different areas of human life. Therefore, reflection on AIDS must take into account social, legal, medical and to a very large extent also moral problems. There is no shortage in the literature of medical or even purely moral studies. Not much has been written, however, about the problems caused by the disease for marriage and procreation, where it has led to substantively new situations. Serious problems may arise already at the stage of choice of a spouse, and they may also concern the contracting of marriage, the validity of the matrimonial bond, and the realization of the full dimensions of the matrimonial union in body and spirit. The proportions of the danger become especially clear once we realize that AIDS is transmitted most dynamically in that sphere of married life in which the spouses find natural support for their mutual bond. The scale of the danger posed by the HIV virus calls for adequate preventive actions, particularly in the course of (both long-term and immediate) preparation for marriage. However, there is nothing to justify imposing any restrictions (in the form of either legal or moral sanctions) on marriage involving carriers of the disease. Nor is it possible to prohibit such spouses from taking advantage of their rights and fulfilling their duties. What is needed is competent advice. The decision to get married and to fulfil the procreative function ultimately depends on the spouses themeselves, and it is their duty to consider their situation in their own conscience and before God. In the face of immediate danger each spouse, in the spirit of responsibility and love, ought to show concern for the protection of his or her own health, and of the health of the other spouse and the children. The requirements of sexual ethics do not permit the use of condoms as a means of protection. Indeed, despite health services' recommendations, the condom is not the ideal protective device: it is highly unreliable and fails in about 30 per cent of cases.

Asceza we współczesnym świecie konsumpcji, użycia i permisywizmu
Słomka, Walerian (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 1990)
The author's concept of asceticism is rooted in the concepts of hierarchy of human values. He views self-indulgence, permissivism and consumer attitudes as violations of the human and Christian hierarchy of values and regards asceticism as a progression of exercises siming at a life consistent with that hierarchy. The ascetic process guarantees a person's transition from the state of potentiality to the state of self-realization within his or her proper possibilities, including attainment of the perfection to which God calls man in Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.
