Abstract

Among the many genres of music, rap stands out as a particularly good vehicle for communicating content. The Christian variety of this music includes numerous examples of proclaimed truths of faith that speak of the existence of a single personal God. The rappers note that although He is mysterious, He wished to reveal truths about His creative work, His closeness to and care for His creation, especially man, for whom He prepared heaven. They also recognize the community of the Church and its value, as well as Mary’s special intercession. This article collects numerous examples of Christian rap songs that speak of the aforementioned elements of the Catholic faith, and thus can serve as an evangelization tool or catechetical aid.
