What can be said about Jesus while gazing at the Old Testament? The answer is provided by Origen who rereads the figures of the Old Covenant, and in an extremely precise and totally original way discovers in them the promised Messiah. Typological exegesis becomes for this Alexandrian the source of knowledge of Jesus Christ, his humanity, work, themes, missions, as well as ways to recognize him in his everyday life and establish a closer relationship with him.

In the article the history of organs and the inventory description of organs were presented. The inventory description was prepared according to the method used at the Department of Instrumental Studies of the Institute of Musicology at the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin. The inventory description includes such facts as follows: location of organ, description of casing and facade, organ mechanisms, disposition and structure of sound. Information about three instruments, which were used in two temples was presented in this article. The antique organs in the churches of Rzeszow are mostly used in liturgy. Uniwersalny wymiar kerygmatu pisemnego
Wasilewski, Edward (Instytut Teologiczno-Pastoralny im. św. bpa Józefa Sebastiana Pelczara w Rzeszowie, 2015)
A word which can be uttered or written, given orally or in writing, is a basic carrier of the Good News. Particularly during the patristic period the idea of written kerygma was developed, which played a signifcant role during the presecutions, when a written tradition was also reaching the environments hostile to Christianity, unavailable to proponents of the Word of God. The idea of this kerygma was also cultivated in the subsequent centuries of the Church history and played a leading role in promoting the tradition of the Revealed teaching. The contemporary homilists who decide to record their homilies in writing have a possibility to spread the kerygma of the Good News which will also last for centuries. Correctly and accurately prepared written kerygma can become commonly available and universal in respect of geography and history.

„Systemizm” Mario Bungego – współczesna postać materializmu
Twardowski, Mirosław (Instytut Teologiczno-Pastoralny im. św. bpa Józefa Sebastiana Pelczara w Rzeszowie, 2015)
Materialism is a family of naturalistic ontologies, according to which matter is the only material of all reality. One of the modern proponents of the materialistic doctrine is an philosopher Mario Bunge. According to his version of materialism, called emergentist materialism or, shortly, „systemism”, all material entities are divided into at least five qualitatively different complementary levels: physical, chemical, biological, social and technical. Accordingly these levels correspond to several types of matter: physical, chemical, animated, social and technical. „Systemism” was inspired by the ideas of the Hungarian biologist and philosopher, Ludwig von Bertalanffy’ general system theory. „Systemism”, according to the author’s intention, should avoid the simplifcations of physicalism, as well as the ambiguity of dialectical materialism. The system materialism is a specifc view of the world, the axis of which being emergentism. Emergentism accepts the formation of qualitatively new forms and properties as a result of interactions between the elements of a given system. The opposite concept to the concept of emergence is submergence, which means the loss of one or more of the properties of an entity or system because of its metamorphosis into something else. System materialism („Everything is related to some other things”) is a middle path between the two extreme directions: holism („Everything is related to all other things”) and atomism („Everything follows its own way”). In his explanation of systems, Bunge dissociates himself from naive reductionism („Just explain the whole with the knowledge you have about the elements”), while recommending that a strategy of moderate reductionism („You can reduce anything that just might be reduced, but without ignoring the diversity and emergence”). In the center of the materialistic system ontology is the thesis that there are no absolutely isolated things: everything works together with (some) others. Together they form coherent systems.

Prawda w życiu współczesnego człowieka w świetle nauczania bł. ks. Jerzego Popiełuszki
Szczecina, Grzegorz Kamil (Instytut Teologiczno-Pastoralny im. św. bpa Józefa Sebastiana Pelczara w Rzeszowie, 2015)
The central theme of the teaching of Fr. Jerzy Popieluszko was to serve the truth. Zoliborz preacher was consistent in proclaiming the need for the presence of values in society, but most of all, in the life of every human being. Priest Jerzy noticed that the pursuit of truth is not only inscribed in human nature, but also in his vocation. The basis of social order and internal peace of man is the truth which liberates man from servitude and evil. Today, even it is becoming a current need for the presence of truth. Fr. Popieluszko preached that based on divine Revelation, the Christian is bound to give witness to the truth and that they belong to Christ, your life. Also sees the suffering that comes to experience the man when he wants to live and act in truth, as befits a Christian, but he was thus convinced of the value of suffering and need courageous witness to the truth. Today there is no shortage slavery of ideologies, which insidiously trying to enslave the modern man internally. Man is always required to defend fundamental values, and above all to give witness to the truth on the model of Jesus Christ. At any time you will need heroic witnesses to the truth, going out in defense of Christian values. He knew that Fr. Jerzy Popieluszko himself who does not deny the truth and Christ when he had to give his life for the truth.

Krzyż w ikonografii. W kierunku interpretacji teologicznofundamentalnej
Siodłowska, Małgorzata; Królikowski, Piotr (Instytut Teologiczno-Pastoralny im. św. bpa Józefa Sebastiana Pelczara w Rzeszowie, 2015)
The purpose of this article is to show cognitive value of the iconography of the Cross for fundamental theology and process of justification of credibility of this redemptive and salvific Event. Authors of article focuses on main motifs and themes of the staurological iconography and classify them in three groups: representations of the Trinity on the Cross (Throne of Grace), ecclesiological elements in representations of the Cross (connected with institution of the Eucharist and New Covenant, and establishing new people of God), and christological implications. Article indicates theological contents of each of that iconographical groups and shows that all of them make a contribution to understanding the reality of paschal mystery and the realm of the Church, help to reflect on the history of salvation, make it easy the contemplation of the mystery of the Cross. Iconography of resurrection of Cross has a sign structure and therefore it contains content of faith, and affects both the aesthetic and intellectual spheres of man. In this way the iconography of the Cross has cognitive functions and to some extent contributes to portraying the credibility of the Cross, Jesus Christ and the Church.

Marks of ownership traced in the books are valuable, but ofen underestimated source of historical knowledge. In the books of the nineteenth-century collection in the Library of the Theological and Pastoral Institute and the Seminary of Rzeszów there are many of interesting marks of ownership in form of stamps and labels that say much about former owners. The examination of such marks allows to deepen our knowledge about them.

    Misja etyczna współczesnego uniwersytetu
Marczak, Łukasz (Instytut Teologiczno-Pastoralny im. św. bpa Józefa Sebastiana Pelczara w Rzeszowie, 2015)
The paper presents the university from the point of view of the social doctrine of the Church as a special institution which contributes to the creation of the common good. The ethical mission of the university serving man in the modern social context is presented. Finding the values rooted in man as a social being, is a prerequisite for creating community. The ethical and social principles of Catholic social teaching serve this process, thus the paper is trying to compile their canonic potential with the educational mission of the university, whose fundamental task remains the development of a wise, honest and good man. A proper and full concept of man is fundamental, because it determines the quality of the common good.

Drzewo figowe, osioł i woda żywa. Rola Księgi Zachariasza w Ewangelii Janowej
Kubiś, Adam (1976- ) (Instytut Teologiczno-Pastoralny im. św. bpa Józefa Sebastiana Pelczara w Rzeszowie, 2015)
In four sections, the article deals with four specific issues related to the use of the Book of Zechariah in the Fourth Gospel. First, nine different ways in which the Old Testament is employed in John’s Gospel are presented. In this section the article aims to justify focusing on the use of a single OT book in John’s Gospel, an approach which appeals to many scholars as the most appropriate way of dealing with the broader issue of the use of the OT in the Fourth Gospel. Such a seemingly narrow methodological choice enables the exegete to investigate virtually all possible uses of a particular OT text (book), applying the appropriate attention and thoroughness. Second, the article discusses two major methodological problems connected with the study of the OT in the Fourth Gospel, namely (1) the absence of careful, widely accepted def nitions for the literary devices of quote, allusion, and echo; and, related to this, (2) the elusive nature of any objective criteria for identifying allusions and echoes. The article also broaches the issue of the rightly questioned legitimacy of using the term “intertextuality” within the realm of biblical studies employing the historical-critical method. As to the problem of def nitions, Ben-Porat’s definition of literary allusion, together with Sommer’s approach to the phenomenon called an echo, are adopted in this article. Thirdly, the article presents a case study of one particular allusion in the Fourth Gospel, namely the mention of the fig tree in the narrative of the call of the first disciples in John 1:45-51. Indeed, the question of why Nathaniel confesses Jesus to be the Son of God and the king of Israel (1:49) following Jesus’ statement that he saw him under the fig tree (1:48) stands as a perennial crux interpretum in Johannine studies. Seeing an allusion to the prophecy of Zec 3:10 seems to solve this problem convincingly. Fourth, the article discusses the use of explicit quotations from Zechariah in the Fourth Gospel. The current study reveals that there are two basic focal points of the major Johannine references to Zechariah: (1) the cleansing narrative (Jn 2:13-22), with its references to Zec 6:12-13 and 14:21, and the triumphal entry narrative (Jn 12:12-16), which quotes Zec 9:9, both refer to the rebuilding of the temple; and (2) Jn 7:38, quoting Zec 14:8, and Jn 19:30-37, quoting Zec 12:10 both relate to the gif of the Spirit. Taken together, the references to Zechariah in the Fourth Gospel express two facets of a single, fundamental Johannine theological paradigm, i.e. that Jesus is the new temple: (1) the cleansing and rebuilding of the temple, understood as both Jesus’ body and the community of believers, and (2) the gif of the Spirit flowing out of the new temple, Jesus’ body.

Strukturalna wiarygodność Kościoła w eklezjologicznych poglądach ks. Mariana Ruseckiego
Królikowski, Piotr (Instytut Teologiczno-Pastoralny im. św. bpa Józefa Sebastiana Pelczara w Rzeszowie, 2015)
This article presents question of structural credibility of the Church based on ecclesiological thought of rev. Marian Rusecki, professor of fundamental theology and the founder of Fundamental Theology School of Lublin. Though Rusecki did not work out fully comprehensive fundamental ecclesiology, he in his researches investigate many issues connected with credibility of Church. First of all Rusecki pointed to the divine-human structure of Church. He motivates this structure in reference to the paschal ecclesiogenesis, which in turn indicates on essence of the Church – the communicaton of Revelation and the salvation in time and space. Rusecki introduced theological conceptions of Church: salvation-historical, semeiotical, personalistic. They serve to show realization Church’s essence in temporary, spatial and deep (from below) dimensions. These dimensions and these conceptions of the Church are connected each other and indicate that the Church is credible and true. Salvation-historical conception presents Church as herald of Revelation in temporal dimension. This article shows temporary frames of Church and its permanent identity and continuity in time from creation to the end of time. Attention was turned on Tradition, Magisterium Ecclesiae and permanent ecclesiogenesis which make possible communication of Revelation by the Church in time. Semiotical conception of the Church refers to spatial dimension and shows Church as salvifc community, as sign of Christ, and sign of salvation. It has two breadths – Church membership and relationship to the Church. In deep (from below) dimension, based on of personalistic conception, the Church is shown as the environment in which the man can fulfill his orientation towards transcendence and fully realize his personal existence in Jesus Christ and His Church. Church as witness of Revelation and Christ leads a man to conversion and to faith, and include him in the sacramental sign of the Church. Church has transformative influence on man and on the various dimensions of his life. But members of the Church in their live are witness of Jesus Christ and the Church too. This part of article presents also axiological argumentation for credibility of the Church. These dimensions of Church portray fulfillment Church’s essence and realization of its mission, thereby structural credibility of Church becomes justify. Article pays attention also on conditions of the cognizance of the structural credibility of the Church.

Biskupa Anastazego Sedlaga plany przeniesienia siedziby rządców diecezji chełmińskiej z Pelplina do Chełmna
Jodkowski, Marek (Instytut Teologiczno-Pastoralny im. św. bpa Józefa Sebastiana Pelczara w Rzeszowie, 2015)
In 1836, the Bishop of Culm, Anastazy Sedlag, suggested to the Prussian authorities that the bishop seat be moved from Pelplin to Culm. The translocation was also meant to include diocese institutions in Pelplin. On the basis of his calculations, one can find that the creation of a diocese capital in Culm would cost 14,850 thalers less than the completion of construction and adaptation works in Pelplin. It should be noted that the translocation expenses amounted to 62,750 thalers. The twelve-year period of Pelplin functioning as the seat of bishops did not influence its economic growth. Priests employed in the diocese administration experienced numerous difculties in access to food products and means of transport. The ministry of religious affairs, education and medicine rejected the above mentioned Bishop Sedlag’s plans. The decision was supported by the argument of the amount of capital invested in the adjustment of the infrastructure of Pelplin to the needs of diocese institutions. Besides, diocese construction funds had been almost used up by that time. However, a decision was made to create a post office in Pelplin, as well as to reconstruct selected stretches of roads.
