Abstrakt
The Polish theologians of the period between the two world wars (1919-1939) exerted a great influence on the form of the spirituality of the contemporary priests. That was possible thanks to the then good exterior conditions, which brought about animation of the religious life of the Polish society. The pastoral movements, first of all the liturgical movement, as well as the theological environments in connection with the activities of the new publishing houses and the scientific centres contributed to this. Then appeared the great theologians (father Aleksander Żychliński, father Jacek Woroniecki) who studied the spirituality of the diocese priests, clearly different from the spirituality of the monks. The influence of the diocese priests on the seminaries increased significantly. In the publications of that period, the spirituality of the priests is more “cultic”, due to the influence of the Tridentinum, but also we meet a stress on the “mission” and the “service”, characteristic for the Vaticanum II. The Vaticanum II accentuated the “mission” in the spirituality of the priests, but didn't reject the "cultic" spirituality.
