Dlaczego czcić Maryję? Biblijno-teologiczne uzasadnienie kultu maryjnego

Abstract

Firstly the article presents an analysis of the places in the Old Testament that speak of Mary in a typological sense. Then it takes into account the passages from the New Testament that refer to the Mother of Jesus. The whole article is crowned by referring to the post-conciliar leaching of the Magisterium of the Church, which implies a call to honor the Mother of God. The Second Vatican Council justifying the cult of Mary, also lists the four elements that describe the nature of this cult: I. Honor ‒ because she is the Mother of God; 2. Love ‒ she is also our Mother; 3. Invocation and petition ‒ since her intercession is effective; 4. Imitation ‒ because as a saint she is a model lor the Church. In the Council’s interpretation there are four aspects (foundations) presented to justify the cult of Mary (I. Divine Motherhood, 2. cooperation in the work of salvation, 3. spiritual motherhood, 4. holiness), which correspond to the four characteristics of this cult (1. honor, 2. love, 3. invocation and petition, 4. imitation).
