Abstract

The article presents some aspects of Karol Wojtyła’s life in the context of his dramaturgical activity. It concentrates mainly on ancient Greek dramaturgy, which influenced the education in the humanities of a youngster in Wadowice and Cracow. The author emphasizes some important historical, cultural and spiritual events which may have determined Wojtyła’s decision to become a priest. It seems that literature and theatre making had a direct influence on his spiritual life and on his fundamental choices. The education in the humanities based on classical principles contributed to the fulfillment of the deeply Christian life of a young man called to priesthood and to a special mission in the Church.
