Abstrakt

The existence of multicultural societies in the globalised world has become an unquestionable fact, which stems from the human right to migrate and choose a place of residence. This is related to every person’s right to be respected in all aspects. The coexistence of people representing different cultures, nations, languages and religions – if it is to take shape – needs to be based on several underlying principles, which the Church’s social teaching refers to as the principles of social life. Of those, in our opinion, the most significant in the context of establishing multicultural societies are the principles of personalism, solidarity, pluralism, tolerance and dialogue. Therefore, if they intend to develop in the spirit of humanism and social order, multicultural societies should consider adoption of the catalogue of social life principles advocated by the Church’s social teaching, since those principles determine the formation of a proper community and allow us to distinguish a real community from an apparent one.
