Kardynała Christopha Schönborna wizja relacji ewolucja – stworzenie

Abstract

Od lat wewnątrz Kościoła, a także poza nim, toczy się dyskusja wokół zagadnień związanych z ewolucją. Debata ta ostatnio rozgorzała na nowo najpierw po opublikowaniu w lipcu 2005 r. w „The New York Times” artykułu kardynała Christopha Schönborna, arcybiskupa Wiednia, ucznia Benedykta XVI, a zarazem jego bliskiego współpracownika, pt. „Odnajdywanie zamysłu w przyrodzie”, a następnie po zorganizowaniu przez papieża Benedykta XVI w Castel Gandolfo we wrześniu 2006 r. sympozjum poświęconego tematowi ewolucja – stworzenie. Sympozjum poprowadził kardynał Schönborn. On też napisał „Przedmowę” do publikacji „Creation and Evolution. A Conference with Pope Benedict XVI in Castel Gandolfo”, będącej owocem wygłoszonych na sesji konferencji i toczących się po ich wygłoszeniu dyskusji. W niniejszym artykule zaprezentowano pokrótce poglądy kardynała Christopha Schönborna na temat: ewolucja a stworzenie. W opinii wielu komentatorów to właśnie on jest wyrazicielem opinii Kościoła w tym temacie. W końcowej części artykułu przedstawiono reakcję wybranych autorów na poglądy prezentowane przez austriackiego kardynała w interesującej nas kwestii.

Over the years within the Church and outside of it, there has been a debate on issues related to evolution. This debate was recently strongly heated, first by the publication, in July 2005, in The New York Times, of the article by Cardinal Christoph Schönborn, Archbishop of Vienna, a pupil of Pope Benedict XVI and also his close associate, entitled “Finding the plan in nature”, and then the organizing, by Pope Benedict XVI a symposium on the topic of evolution-creation in Castel Gandolfo in September 2006. The symposium, was conducted by Cardinal Schönborn, who also wrote the foreword to the publication of Creation and Evolution. A Conference with Pope Benedict XVI in Castel Gandolfo, the fruit of a session at the conference and the ongoing discussion after its delivery. In this article, a brief presentation of the views of Cardinal Christoph Schönborn on evolution and creation is given. According to many commentators, it is he, in fact, who expresses the opinion of the Church regarding this topic. The final part of the article presents the response of selected authors to the views of the Austrian cardinal on the issues of interest.
