Opis
The article presents St Augustine’s leaching on the image of God in man in the mystery of Creation. God has created man in His image and likeness. It is to this fact that man owes his honour and dignity. Realizing this truth one should also remember that the Son of God is the image of God, too. But since man has been only created by pod and not begotten, the image of God in him does not match the perfection of God’s image that is in His Son. According to St Augustine it is not just the individual man that is the image of God hut also the whole human nature, that is.the woman and the man. One should not, however, see the image of the Blessed Trinity in the family, as the Gnostics would have. According to St Augustine we should seek the image of God in the human soul that God has left His image. St Augustine expresses it by means of two trinitarian analogies. The first is constituted by the soul, cognition and love, and the other - by memory, intellect and will.
