    Presentation of the issue: This study refers to the issue of the Christian faith in terms of apologetic. In our today’s world, taking into account the situation in which we live, proclaiming faith in Christ and bearing witness to Him, we feel more and more the need to undertake a kind of a renewed apology for the Catholic faith. We need an apologetics, which would be a quiet, intelligent and convincing defence of the faith against critics and the accusations by individuals and entire communities, which would respond to people’s ąuestions and would recommend our faith to outsiders. Background: First we’ve got to outline (necessarily briefly) the situation of the Christian faith today, referring concurrently to the necessity of its rational defence and against this background we present specific contemporary threats relating to the Christian faith in our culture circle conditions. Results: In order to clarify the contents, we separate first the generał sociocultural and ideo-philosophical background of our times, so as to be able to specify (on this basis) the particular threats affecting the Catholic faith, its understanding, its professing and practicing. Conclusions: The culmination of our analysis is an attempt to answer the ąuestions (here also necessarily briefly and lapidary) about the contemporary threats of faith, which can and should give Christian believers. The answer is the widely understood work of the new evangelization, supported by corresponding instructions of the Church’s Magisterium.

    The following reflection on the Second Vatican Council sets itself as a task to conduct an analysis of this significant event according to the outline included in the title. Namely, it is a brief description of the Vatican II itself, then a reference to its undoubtedly epoch-making importance for Christians around the world, and a summary reflection on the permanent challenge, which is the conciliar thought to the whole Church, to her charismata and office, to the shepherds and the whole People of God. This challenge is presented essentially by the reference to the event, which was the publication of the Dutch Catechism in 1966, the first post-Vatican II Catholic catechism, reflecting the Magisterium of the Dutch bishops. The text contains also the generał hermeneutic of the II Vatican Council, as well as the content of four of its most important documents — the Council’s Constitutions.

    The study presents the history of the Higher Seminary Library in Przemyśl, since its establishment at the end of the seventeenth century till the year 2010 and analyzes the activities of this institution in the years 1945-2010. It discusses the organization and functioning of this facility, it characterizes its collections and ways how they have been collected, described, stored and shared. Staff and library users have also been presented. Finally, it specifies forms and results of the work undertaken with other scientific and cultural centers, both regional and nationwide. The data for this study has been obtained by analyzing literaturę and sources and through interviews with library directors and their Staff in 1966-2010. On the basis of the collected Information, it has been found out that the directions of the analyzed activities do not deviate from the directions of activities of other such institutions. In its activities in the years 1945-2010 the Higher Seminary Library in Przemyśl focused on the implementation of the standard tasks of libraries, i.e. the collection, preparation, storage and resource sharing. Following the achievements of librarianship, taking into account personnel and materiał limitations as well as the specificity of the library, the institution managers took care of its overall development and adjusted its organization to the reąuirements of the times in order to best serve its users. In the analyzed period the rules according to which the basie library tasks were carried out were modified, which resulted in some areas in working out own and original methods by the researcher.

    Sloth is the sixth passionate thought in the Evagrian catalog. The main sign of sloth in monastic life is its appearance at noon, therefore the monk firom Pontus associates it with daemonium meridianum firom Ps 90 (91), 6. In an anchorite’s life sloth appears as the hatred to anchorese, the hatred of one’s own celi and manuał work, brothers and finalny oneself and the will to return to the world and people, a different celi or different work, the will to receive suport from others or to be praised by people. Sloth can be cured by being faithful to everyday duties, persistence in the chosen way of living, place and job as well as resistance to the temptation of endless changes.

    Kaznodzieja wobec problemów polityczno-moralnych

    Słowo Boże odnosi się do każdego człowieka, jego postawy i aktywności, także w dziedzinie polityczno-społecznej. Dlatego do posłannictwa Kościoła należy wydawanie „osądu moralnego” w sprawach dotyczących porządku politycznego (KKK 2246), a w tej misji profetyczno-krytycznej mają również udział kaznodzieje. Polscy homileci II połowy XIX i I połowy XX wieku uwrażliwiali kaznodziejów na potrzebę oceny spraw politycznych z pozycji religijnej, ale zdecydowanie przeciwstawiali się głoszeniu z ambony treści świeckich, w tym tematyki politycznej i uprawianiu politykierstwa i partyjnictwa na ambonie. Również współczesny kaznodzieja powinien troszczyć się o dobro człowieka, narodu i państwa, kierując się społeczną nauką Kościoła w ocenie polityki. Kazanie ze swej natury ma wymiar antropologiczny i wyraźnie (explicite) lub pośrednio (implicite) dotyczy również problemów polityczno-moralnych. W duchu Ewangelii kaznodzieja będzie bronił niepozbywalnych praw człowieka, a przy tym zachowa odpowiedni dystans do polityki. Najdoskonalszym wzorem zdecydowanej i roztropnej postawy wobec władzy świeckiej jest Jezus Chrystus, nieugięcie głoszący prawdę i troszczący się o dobro ludzi. Zbawiciel posyła kaznodziejom Ducha Świętego, aby mogli wiernie i odważnie głosić całą Ewangelię, czyniąc to w konkretnych uwarunkowaniach polityczno-moralnych.

    The Man as a person is an autonomous, national and independent being ‒ so the subject of his thinking and acting. At the same time, He is a social being. The social sense inclines him to be involved into various indirect communities leading him tothe personal development. Among such communities special role belongs to the local govemments. Through them the teritorial communities achieve subjectivity which touches also individual persons. Such subjectivity generates the possibility of integral development. Therefore in real life the territorial govemments don’t act always in a the right way: there are positive sides of their acting, but there are also mistakes and abuses. Taking this into consideration, it is necessary to postulate rejection of liberal principles on social life, creating the civil attitudes and mobilizing the local municipal govemments to the very constructive activity.
