The Christian priesthood in the ancient and medieval tradition was symbolized with different images taken from the biblical text and interpreted in an allegorical way. In our article we present two groups of images. First, those connected with different kinds of persons (angel, shepherd, fishermen, old man, judge, king and ruler, servant, harvester, leaseholder of the vineyard, cook and smith, guardian of the city, brave warrior, father and mother). Second, those connected with different kinds of animals (horse, dog, ram, ox, cow, lion, stag, ibex, locust, cock).
