Abstrakt
Religious dimension of social work in context of the biggest religions of the world is the subject of the presentation. Thus, scientific reflexion relates to such religious systems as: Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, Judaism, Islam and Christianity. It seems that the analysis of the social work in the particular religions has some common features, but also differs with some of the properties. Aspecific collision of multi-aged religious traditions with contemporary challenges of social, economic or political nature constitutes certain problems in social work. Religious rules of social help must be supported by governmental and nongovernmental institutions. Christian understanding of the social work in John Paul’s II depiction constitutes an important element of the present publication. His proposal of solutions constitutes great, although difficult offer. Holy Father underlines the basic value of the human person, its irrefutable priority in view of the capital and its unquestionable dignity. He also points the attention to the role of the social justice in the context of performed work and its significance for the family life, for realization of the maternity, as well as for the disabled persons. The justice itself is not sufficient, therefore John Paul II relates to the Christian love.
