Maryjny wymiar duszpasterskiej posługi sługi Bożego kardynała Augusta Hlonda
Życiński, Wojciech (Wyższe Seminaria Duchowne Towarzystwa Salezjańskiego, 2006)
The life of Card. August Hlond, determined by the needs or the sings of time, became for him an individual school of independence and ability to live in the new and unexpected conditions. The skills and experience gained in this school appeared to be very helpful in fulfilling his ministry. It was not easy to conduct the pastoral service especially during the years right after regaining the independence by Poland, while the creation of the new country was taking place and next under two totalitarian regimes – nazi and communist. Although during these times his ministry took various forms and was carried out in the various places, such as Katowice, Wiedeń, Vatican, Warsaw, Piekary Śląskie or Lourdes, it was always inspired by the Marian piety of the Mother of Redeemer. Even though pastoral activity of the Primate Card. A. Hlond is bound up with Mary, yet it is still oriented to God in the Holy Trinity. Since Hi is above everything. Marian inspirations of Card. Hlond’s ministry are a meaningful testimony of Primate’s faith; the faith which indicates to a contemporary man the source of Christian hope that lays in God rich in mercy as well as the way of its implementation in which God also participates. The promise has been already fulfilled in Mary – the Mother of Christ. The Church in its pilgrimage to God has been still awaiting the fulfillment of this promise. Through Mary who is a model of Church, a man can find his true and right way to God. Since God does not redeem us without us and against our will. God expects our collaboration.

    Rozumienie Eucharystii wczoraj i dziś
Żądło, Andrzej (Wyższe Seminaria Duchowne Towarzystwa Salezjańskiego, 2006)
The article is divided into three parts. First part: “Return to the origin is a way to renew the Eucharistic celebration” brings up an issue of understanding every celebration as an active, real, complete, and spiritual participation whole community of ancient Church. The second part: “Lost characteristic feature of the Eucharist – participatio” presents Eucharistic celebration in the light of the ecclesiology in which pastoral activity was reserved only for the clergy and laity was passive. Priests were responsible for leading the laity to salvation through liturgy which was perceived by the laity as misterium tremendum. The participation of the laity in the celebration was restricted to popular piety. Whereas priests quietly celebrated Roman Canon, the laity was saying rosary, litanies and singing spiritual songs in national languages. The third part: “The Eucharist – source and summit of ecclesial life” tells us about influence of the Second Vatican Council on proper understanding of the Eucharistic celebration as sacramental sacrifice: thanksgiving, memorial and presence.

    Kamień jako świadek historii
Zaborski, Marcin (Wyższe Seminaria Duchowne Towarzystwa Salezjańskiego, 2006)
The article aims at answering the following questions: What did stones symbolize in different cultures, centuries and civilizations? What importance did they have in the past? How does it influence the culture of memory? Stone has been considered a mythological symbol of power. In modern language it is a traditional symbol of strength and wisdom. Therefore, stone is a symbol of the eternity. The relative permanence of stones can help us recognize the inner self that is beyond the cycle of life and death, and is eternal. Throughout the history the cult of stones has taken different forms. The stone has been perceived as a magical touchstone. The Kingdom of God is symbolized by the stone, by the mountain. In the Bible we read about Jacob who placed a stone under his head before he went to sleep and saw a ladder that was stretched between Earth and Heaven. In Mecca, in the house of God there is a black stone which is in fact a meteor. In the Islamic tradition, this stone which fell from heaven, symbolizes the original covenant made between man and God. The article describes those images and analytically presents the connection between the history of stone and the social culture of memory. The author refers to various monuments and places of memory, and asks – what symbol can we see in those places? What was the role of stone in them? What did the stone symbolize?

For a very long historical period the Polish society had lived in an isolated centre of Europe which was divided ideologically, economically and intellectually. The level of life in West Europe made up for people an unattainable ceiling. The historical changes appeared in a sudden way, which made the political conditioning blocking the unity of the continent fell into ruin. As the result of it the new proposals were opened for the society, and first of all new tasks – the integration of old continent. For major part of society coming together those not always consenting two cultures means that the earlier acquired, assimilated ways of life lost the effectiveness, becoming harmful in new reality or they meet with the negative function, while the new cultural rules appear to them as strange and imposed by force. The level of social consciousness, intensity of commitment in social-economical-political life depends on the level of education, also maneuvering the economic, social and cultural base so that it can bring the complex level of satisfaction in every separate treatment.

    Problemy werbalne społeczności niepełnosprawnych
Szluz, Beata (Wyższe Seminaria Duchowne Towarzystwa Salezjańskiego, 2006)
Communication of handicapped people with an environment is an essential factor that conditions development and improvement of many social and cognitive functions. Lack of possibility to communicate creates another barrier separating them from the healthy people (physically fit and speaking). Difficulties which originate lack of understanding by others in a consequence lead to the deprivation of sensorial and social needs. Speech enables greater participation in the social life then non-verbal behaviors. A word sets a man free from the contacts with a direct group, allows at the same time a direct contact (breaking the time and spatial limitations). On the other hand non-verbal communication links a man with a community that is accessible to him. But in the situation of the development disturbances of any kind communication process becomes disorganized, learning of a language in particular. A necessity arises to replace the verbal communication by a non-verbal one, which becomes an alternative that makes the active communication with the social environment possible. In the present article there was contained a reflection encompassing problems of the handicapped people relating to the verbal communicating and proposals of the chosen solutions in this scope.

Opiekuńczo-wychowawczy i profilaktyczny charakter salezjańskiej pracy socjalnej z młodzieżą na przykładzie działalności Regionalnego Centrum „Don Bosco” w Ratyzbonie
Stępkowski, Dariusz (Wyższe Seminaria Duchowne Towarzystwa Salezjańskiego, 2006)
The article describes the idea of youth social work (Jugendsozialarbeit), which was started in 19th century in Germany. Firstly, it provides an overview of historical orgins of youth education, which emphasise elimination of social pathologies and professional training. The link between various activities and religious education is illustrated by quotations from the pioneers of youth social work: Johann G. Breuer and Adolph Kolping. This unity determines the pedagogic character of education process as a whole. Summing up the first period of youth social work development, it is possible to point out its two distinctive features: (1) sensitivity to the youth social needs with the attention paid to professional training and (2) morality-based education. On the basis of the above-mentioned, the following section presents theories of dealing with difficult teenagers, especially those developed in the 20th century. This leads to a conclusion that the activities taken as a part of youth social work are often a response to the needs of young generation. The third section gives an insight into the activity of Regional Centre “Don Bosco” in Regensburg in Germany. This is a centre, where education is carried out according to rules of youth social work. The last issue in the article is contemporary crisis of youth social work identity. The author suggests that one of the reasons for the situation is less stress on axiological and religious aspects, which determine pedagogic character of youth social work.

Stańkowski, Bogdan (Wyższe Seminaria Duchowne Towarzystwa Salezjańskiego, 2006)
The article considers problems related to parents’ migration in order to find a job in Western Europe and in the USA, and its influence on children’s education in family. It analyses the following issues: relations between parents – children, advantages and disadvantages of parents’ absence at home. The author presents the main findings of his empirical research taken place in Podhale region. It was attempted to ask parents who remain at home about their opinion whether husband/wife’s absence has any influence on children’s education in family. The questionnaire was delivered in 2004/2005. It emerged that the adults did not perceived working abroad as a main negative aspect of their family life. However, it was found that for many parents it is difficult to educate their children while husband/wife living abroad because of work.
