Formularze Mszy świętych na Rok Jubileuszowy – teologia modlitw
Makowski, Dawid (Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, 2024)
The presented article presents the theology of the prayers of the new Mass formularies intended for use in the Jubilee Year. They are a special kind of oration, pointing to the importance of the Holy Year in the life of the Church, which is quite strongly based on the importance of the Christian understanding of hope. This article aims to highlight the multifaceted nature of the new Mass forms, while emphasizing their connection to the theme of the Jubilee. Therefore, the text is divided into three parts, treating the three new forms in turn. This allows one to perceive the theological thought contained in these orations, and thus to celebrate the liturgy more consciously. This is because it is the center of the Church’s faith.

Udział osób homoseksualnych w życiu liturgicznym Kościoła. Doktrynalne wytyczne Josepha Ratzingera a nowe propozycje duszpasterskie papieża Franciszka
Nowakowski, Przemysław (Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, 2024)
The author of this article presents the evolution of the pastoral model for homosexual persons in light of the latest Church documents, with particular attention to their participation in liturgical life. The doctrinal foundations of the pastoral care of homosexual persons were formulated by Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger in the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith’s letter Homosexualitatis problema (1986). A new approach to this pastoral care, as presented in the declaration Fiducia supplicans (2023), has been proposed by Pope Francis. A comparative analysis of these and other documents leads to the conclusion that, although the Church’s stance on the phenomenon of homosexuality has not changed, a more open pastoral attitude toward homosexual persons themselves has been developed. This new approach allows for greater participation in the broadly understood liturgical life of the Church, particularly through the introduction of the possibility of blessing same-sex couples within the framework of popular piety. An explanation of the form, meaning, and purpose of this blessing enables a better understanding of Pope Francis’ pedagogical intuition, which does not contradict previous Church teachings but rather develops them in the pastoral sphere.

Uwielbienie w liturgii i poza liturgią
Bartocha, Waldemar (Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, 2024)
With regard to worship services, we have no ordo. No document has so far appeared which regulates in detail the celebration of such services. Instead, certain customs have taken shape. Some treat the various forms of worshipping and praising God as adoration, while others place them more in the context of evangelisation events. The article attempts to answer the question of where the phenomenon of worship services could be classified. According to the author of the article, extra-liturgical forms of worship and praise to God are situated in the key of popular piety, whose ‘source is the constant and active presence of the Holy Spirit in the ecclesial community and its point of reference is the mystery of Christ, while its goal is “the glorification of God and the salvation of men” (Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, Directory for Popular Piety and the Liturgy. Principles and indications, no. 61). Referring to the documents of the Church’s Magisterium, the author points out some theological and pastoral criteria that can provide valuable assistance to both celebrants and participants in harmonising worship services with the rhythm and demands of the liturgy, so that the worship of God both within and outside the liturgy leads to a life of worship.

    Tytuł kościoła. Refleksja kanonistyczno-liturgiczna
Adamczyk, Jerzy (Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, 2024)
This article deals with the title of a church from a canonical-liturgical point of view. The custom of giving churches a title dates back to Christian antiquity. From the fourth century onwards, when consecrating churches, they were given a special title, thereby placing them under the special protection of some saint or the Saviour himself. The ecclesiastical legislator attaching great importance to the title of a church stipulates that “every church should have a title which, after the consecration of the church, cannot be changed”. Churches may have as their title the Blessed Trinity, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Angels, the Saint. Without the approval of the Holy See, a church may not be given the title of a blessed whose celebration is not yet legally recorded in the diocesan calendar. In certain situations, however, the title of a church may be changed, with the consent of the Holy See. Also, when merging and abolishing parishes, the new parish may have a different title from the parish church.

Narzędzia anamnetycznej obecności Chrystusa w liturgii Kościoła. Refleksja na temat roku liturgicznego i teorii znaku-symbolu liturgicznego w świetle adhortacji apostolskiej „Desiderio desideravi” papieża Franciszka
Korsan, Paweł (Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, 2024)
In the liturgy of the Catholic Church Jesus Christ together with his deeds and words is present in various ways. In the worship context of the Church, all salvific events are becoming present. Everyone who participates in the liturgical celebration can experience an encounter with true God and receive sanctification. In the theological language the term “liturgical anamnesis” describes the manner of the presence of both the salvific events and God Himself. Jesus Christ through the work of the Holy Spirit is present in any liturgical celebration. By participating in the liturgy, one can experience what is divine, supernatural and salvific, and it happens through the signs and symbols.

Wyjątkowość antyfony introitalnej „Suscepimus Deus” z krakowskiego „Missale plenarium” AiBKKK Ms 3. Studium liturgiczno-muzyczne
Kępczyński, Maciej (Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, 2024)
The Missale plenarium AiBKKK Ms 3 is an example of an exceptionally rich and carefully produced liturgical book. The manuscript, housed in the Archives and Library of the Kraków Cathedral Chapter, was thoroughly examined by esteemed scholars during the International Conference Ad fontes Cathedralis Cracoviensis in 2022. Among the numerous Gregorian pieces, the antiphon ad introitum Suscepimus Deus found in the manuscript deserves special attention. The uniqueness of this antiphon is defined by: its deep reflection of theological content in the gregorian melody, the fact of double neumatic notation within a single manuscript, and the lacuna present on one of the folios.

Muzyczne ramy pamięci: nieznany katalog Emila Hillera z luterańskiej parafii św. Marii Magdaleny we Wrocławiu
Joachimiak, Grzegorz (Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, 2024)
The article examines the previously unknown catalog of musical works compiled by E. Hiller, the cantor of the Lutheran parish of St. Mary Magdalene in Breslau (Wrocław) at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. This source, preserved in the State Archives in Wrocław, provides valuable insights into the musical repertoire of the parish, which included compositions by both Protestant and Catholic composers. The catalog documents the collection used in worship services and concerts, illustrating how repertoire selection shaped the identity of the local community. The concept of collective memory, as developed by M. Halbwachs, is employed to demonstrate music’s role as a tool for constructing and preserving cultural and religious traditions. The study also takes into account the musical holdings of St. Christopher’s Church, which was affiliated with the same parish. The analysis of musical sources from both churches, in the context of E. Bohn’s publications, offers a deeper understanding of the history of musical life in this community, the phenomenon of musical ecumenism in Breslau, and the relationship between liturgical repertoire and parish identity.

Rodzina w sztuce sakralnej miasta Bieruń – studium przypadków
Lasek, Grażyna (Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, 2024)
The aim of the study will be to examine two works from the early 21st century and to determine the layers of meaning and symbolism. Their author is the painter Roman Nyga. They are located in Bieruń. The first is a painting entitled The Holy Family placed in the parish church of St. Bartholomew the Apostle. The work symbolically conveys, among others, the beauty of love, community, faith. We can also encounter these issues in the square of the so-called St. Valentine’s Square. In its center there is a column – the Monument of St. Valentine, Patron Saint of the City of Bieruń. The main access to the central point of the square is flanked by two low plinths, on both sides of which there are granite slabs with drawings and inscriptions: LOVE – PURITY, LET’S DO GOOD, FAITH – PRAYER, GRACE – MIRACLE. The research method adopted in this study combines the analysis of sacred art with a local historical background and a broader cultural perspective. The aim of the study is to isolate symbols and signs encoded in the works discussed and which co-determine their uniqueness in which the beauty of art conveys the beauty of deep faith and prayer.
