Dwie próby odpowiedziDembek, Jacek (Instytut Teologiczny w Tarnowie, 1993)In the history of the human knowledge the question about the principles of rationality has always been very important. One of the main aspects of this question is the problem of the limits of rational thinking. The way of thinking typical for mathematics has always been taken as a model of rationality. In the present paper I try to describe two attempts in the philosophy of mathematics which tried to form this branch of science as a strict, consistent domain. These attempts were: logicism created by B. Russell and A. N. Whitehead and the program of formalism proposed by D. Hilbert. Both logicism and formalism met many difficulties. In 1931 Kurt Gödel published his famous theorem that showed that the limits of rational thinking are based on the principles of this very thinking. This and others theorems, as for example theorems of Church or Skolem-Löwenheim, though they deal with meta-theoretical properties of formal systems, have their importance for every kind of rational thinking.Pozycja Ucho igielne ekonomiiDrożdż, Alojzy (Instytut Teologiczny w Tarnowie, 1993)Pozycja Nauczanie Jana Pawła II o kulturzeAdamek, Zbigniew (Instytut Teologiczny w Tarnowie, 1993)Pozycja Stulecie Koła św. Bocheński, J.F. Drewnowski and J. Salamucha, who tried to make the thomistic philosophy more exact, with the help of the modem logic. In this way they wanted to accomplish the programme of prominent expert of the logic and the philosophy J. Lukasiewicz, who demanded radical reform of the philosophy with regard to the methods used in the philosophy. Drewnowski in his book, in which he presented his philosophical programme, constructed the special theory of a sign, which – in his opinion – could be used in the rebuilding of all kinds of sciences, also philosophy and theology. He thought that all the science theories can be constructed as the set of elementary sentences in the shape: b2a1a2a3 what means: the being b2 perceive in the way a l the thing a2 experience a3. Drewnowski’s suggestions were rather impossible to the accomplish but they became encouragement for the other philosophers to use modem logic in philosophy. They made – especially Bocheński and Salamucha – some interesting analyses of different philosophical concepts and problems. However, in this article – more for the general public than for scientists – these analyses are only mentioned. There are in it first of all arguments for the need to make exact the philosophical and Christian thought. Philosophers presented in this article very often point at the tradition of the specification of Christian thought. This specification is also necessary because of very sophisticated reasoning in philosophy, especially in the metaphysics. These are the main reasons of the using of the modem logic in these fields.Pozycja Ewolucyjna wizja dziejów u źródeł dynamicznej koncepcji Kościoła w myśli Włodzimierza S. Jeszcze o ontologicznych interpretacjach fizycznych teoriiHeller, Michał (Instytut Teologiczny w Tarnowie, 1993)Quine’s idea of semantic interpretations of physical theories is briefly reviewed. Physical theories are ontologically engaged through mathematical structures they employ. In this case, mathematics can be regarded as a longuage of physics. It is noticed that Quine’s semantic interpretations of physical theories can be separated from his radical empiricism. The simplest answer to the question: Why are some mathematical structures so efficient in physical theories is: Because they correctly approximate the structure of the world. These considerations imply a method of interpreting physical theories (or models). As an example Gödel’s idealistic interpretation of his own cosmological model (the one with closed timelike curves) is critically examined.Pozycja Św.
